Accenture Acquires IQT Group to Enhance Net-Zero Infrastructure Capabilities

Accenture’s acquisition of IQT Group will enhance its capabilities in net-zero infrastructure, supporting clean energy transitions and sustainable infrastructure projects aligned with EU goals

Accenture has announced its acquisition of IQT Group, an Italian provider specializing in engineering services for large-scale infrastructure projects. This strategic move is aimed at strengthening Accenture's capabilities in advancing net-zero infrastructure initiatives and meeting the increasing demand for sustainable solutions.

Expanding Expertise in Net-Zero Infrastructure

IQT Group's portfolio includes designing and overseeing the development of infrastructure for electricity generation, water systems, and telecom networks. The company has played a significant role in supporting Italy’s clean energy transition, aligned with the EU’s National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR).

Teodoro Lio, CEO of Accenture Italy, highlighted the importance of the acquisition, stating, "The proposed acquisition strengthens our engineering expertise for net-zero infrastructure projects. We aim to help companies in utilities, energy, and telecom sectors build a lower-carbon energy system."

Collaboration for a Sustainable Future

By integrating IQT Group’s 450 engineers and consultants into its Industry X practice, Accenture plans to improve infrastructure project efficiency, safety, and sustainability using cutting-edge AI and digital tools.

Andrea Cavecchia, CEO of IQT Group, expressed optimism about the collaboration, saying, "Together with Accenture’s global reach, we’ll expand our services to pursue a sustainable future, enhancing the quality and safety of infrastructure worldwide."

This acquisition is part of Accenture's ongoing strategy to expand its presence in infrastructure and capital projects, which has included recent acquisitions of Anser Advisory in the U.S. and BOSLAN in Spain. Accenture has also strengthened its footprint in Italy by acquiring firms focused on AI and network services.

Looking Ahead

The deal, which is still subject to customary regulatory approvals, underscores Accenture’s commitment to building sustainable, efficient, and future-ready infrastructure solutions in line with global net-zero goals.
