Ørsted Appoints Anders Johannes Enghild as Head of Global Sustainability

Ørsted has appointed Anders Johannes Enghild as its new Head of Global Sustainability, strengthening leadership oversight of how sustainability is embedded across the company’s global renewable energy portfolio.

Enghild steps into the role after more than five years at Ørsted, most recently serving as Head of Climate, Nature, and Community Sustainability. In this capacity, he has worked closely with project teams to integrate climate action, biodiversity protection, and community impact into offshore wind and renewable developments. Prior to joining Ørsted, Enghild held roles at global consulting firm Dalberg and served on the Innovative Finance and Impact Investment team at The Rockefeller Foundation, giving him a background that spans sustainability strategy, finance, and impact investing.

The appointment follows the decision by Ørsted’s current Head of Global Sustainability, Ida Krabek, to step down at the end of 2025, marking a planned leadership transition within the company’s sustainability function.

Enghild will lead Ørsted’s global team of specialists focused on climate, nature, and community outcomes, with a mandate to further integrate sustainability into project execution as the company scales renewable energy deployment. His role aligns closely with Ørsted’s three core sustainability priorities.

On decarbonisation, Ørsted recently reported a 98 percent reduction in Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions intensity by the end of 2025 and is now increasing its focus on Scope 3 emissions as part of its ambition to reach net zero across its value chain by 2040. On biodiversity, the company has committed to achieving a net-positive impact by 2030, embedding nature considerations into project design and operations. Community impact remains a third pillar, with Ørsted aiming to deliver tangible social and economic benefits in the regions where it develops renewable energy assets.

Commenting on his appointment, Enghild emphasised the link between rapid renewable deployment and sustainability, stating that offshore wind remains the company’s most important contribution to meeting the goals of the Paris Agreement and strengthening Europe’s energy security. He added that delivering projects sustainably is essential to maintaining both the pace and scale required for the energy transition.

The leadership change underscores Ørsted’s intent to keep sustainability tightly connected to core business strategy as it continues to expand its global renewable energy footprint.
