BNY is seeking a Vice President, Regulatory Strategy & Execution, to play a key role in defining and delivering the firm's sustainability regulatory agenda across EMEA and globally, within its Sustainability Hub. Working closely with senior leaders across Sustainability, Risk, Finance, Legal, Compliance, and the business, you will influence decision-making, drive regulatory readiness, and help translate emerging requirements into practical, effective solutions at one of the world's leading financial institutions.

Why this role matters

This role helps BNY respond effectively to a fast-changing sustainability and climate regulatory environment. By leading regulatory strategy across EMEA, shaping high-quality disclosures, and coordinating implementation across functions, you help the firm stay compliant and well-governed while turning complex requirements into clear business priorities.

Key responsibilities

  • Regulatory strategy: Lead the development and execution of BNY's sustainability and climate regulatory strategy across EMEA, responding to evolving disclosure and regulatory requirements while aligning with global frameworks such as IFRS S1, IFRS S2, and TCFD.
  • Regulatory expertise: Provide strategic insight and regulatory expertise on key developments, including CSRD, EU Taxonomy, UK Sustainability Reporting Standards, prudential climate requirements, and other emerging sustainability regulations affecting financial services.
  • Stakeholder partnership: Partner with senior stakeholders across Sustainability, Risk, Finance, Legal, Compliance, Investor Relations, and regional leadership to assess impacts, establish priorities, and coordinate implementation.
  • Disclosure strategy: Shape high-quality sustainability disclosures and reporting strategies aligned with global frameworks, supporting strong governance, controls, and regulatory compliance.
  • Process improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance reporting quality, data integrity, and execution efficiency through process improvement, automation, and the responsible adoption of AI-enabled solutions.

Team and stakeholders

You will work within BNY's Sustainability Hub and partner with senior leaders across Sustainability, Risk, Finance, Legal, Compliance, Investor Relations, the business, and regional leadership teams, engaging senior management and governance forums.

Requirements:

  • Experience leading sustainability, regulatory, prudential, risk, or disclosure-related initiatives within financial services or a similarly regulated environment.
  • Strong understanding of the evolving sustainability and climate regulatory landscape, including disclosure frameworks and emerging developments affecting global financial institutions.
  • Ability to assess the strategic, operational, and governance implications of regulatory change and translate complex requirements into clear priorities, implementation plans, and practical solutions.
  • Strong commercial and strategic acumen, with an understanding of how sustainability, regulatory, and risk developments influence business strategy, governance, and stakeholder expectations.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders, build alignment across diverse functions, and lead complex cross-functional initiatives in a highly matrixed organisation.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and judgement skills, able to synthesise complex information, provide credible challenge, and communicate clear recommendations.
  • Experience strengthening controls, documentation, and assurance-ready processes; familiarity with sustainability data, digital tools, automation, and emerging AI-enabled capabilities is preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in sustainability, finance, accounting, economics, law, public policy, or a related field.
