Position summary

Pfizer's Pfizer Global Supply (PGS) Environmental Sustainability team is hiring a Sustainability Senior Manager to develop strategies and solutions across climate, biodiversity and nature, and product sustainability programs spanning Pfizer's internal and external manufacturing network. The role supports Pfizer's 2040 Net Zero commitment, leading cross-functional programs and partnering with External Supply and Procurement to progress net zero delivery with suppliers.

Why this role matters

Pharmaceutical manufacturing and its supply chain carry substantial climate and nature impacts, much of it in Scope 3 emissions from external suppliers and contract manufacturers. Driving decarbonization across that network, and building the frameworks to track emerging environmental regulation, is central to whether Pfizer can meet its 2040 Net Zero goal while managing regulatory and compliance risk across the regions in which it operates.

Key responsibilities

• Develop sustainability strategies by implementing programs across Scope 3 emissions reduction, sustainable sourcing, biodiversity and nature, and responsible supply chain initiatives.
• Manage the Scope 3 program by conducting supply chain analyses, identifying emissions reduction opportunities, and coordinating cross-functional implementation.
• Partner with Procurement and suppliers by evolving the net zero strategy for suppliers and CMOs on emissions expectations, data quality, and improvement plans.
• Track performance by developing and communicating sustainability metrics and KPIs to support target setting and reporting.
• Monitor regulation by implementing a framework for horizon-scanning emerging environmental regulations and assessing associated business risk.
• Enable colleagues by developing guidance documents, playbooks, training programs, and decision-support tools, and representing Pfizer in external sustainability initiatives.

Team and stakeholders

The role sits within PGS's Environmental Sustainability team and leads cross-functional groups including the Sustainable Sourcing Council, Sustainable Raw Materials Team, Traceability Team, and Scope 3 Working Group, partnering with External Supply and Procurement internally and with industry working groups and collaborative partnerships externally, without direct reporting authority.

Key details

• Posted across multiple US locations (New York City; Tampa, FL; any US Pfizer site) and any European Pfizer site.
• Hybrid work location assignment; travel estimated at less than 10% of time, domestic and international.
• Salary of $124,400 to $207,400 (Tampa, FL: $111,900 to $186,500), plus a 17.5% bonus target and long-term incentive program.
• No US work visa sponsorship available; candidates must be authorized to work in the US.

Requirements

Essential

• Bachelor's degree with 6+ years of experience; or master's with 5+ years; or PhD with 1+ years.
• Experience supporting corporate sustainability programs from strategy through execution in a large, matrixed organization.
• Technical knowledge across climate/GHG accounting, Scope 3/supply chain emissions, nature and biodiversity frameworks, and emerging product sustainability regulations.
• Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams, with strong analytical and data management skills.
• Exceptional communication skills to translate technical content into executive-ready narratives.
• Experience developing and delivering training programs and sustainability playbooks.

Preferred

• Proven ability to influence peers and senior colleagues outside core function.
• Experience with environmental strategies for regulatory compliance and voluntary frameworks.
• External thought leadership, including industry working groups and advisory boards.
• Pharmaceutical environmental stewardship, including product life cycle assessments and product carbon footprints.
• Experience engaging CMOs and strategic suppliers on decarbonization and emissions data quality.
• Working knowledge of the global environmental regulatory and disclosure landscape.
