Job Description

Position summary

Crusoe, a vertically integrated AI infrastructure company with an energy-first approach, is seeking a Sustainability Program Manager to transform sustainability commitments into day-to-day operational reality. The role owns the processes, training, and tracking that make Crusoe’s sustainability KPIs achievable and enforceable across a rapidly expanding portfolio of AI data centers and energy assets, working with cross-functional teams to translate targets into requirements, workflows, and accountability at the site and project level.

Why this role matters

As demand for AI compute grows and power becomes a bottleneck, Crusoe’s energy-first approach aims to make AI infrastructure better for the world. This role closes the gap between sustainability commitments and performance across data center construction and operations, embedding sustainability into how facilities are built and run.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead operational sustainability initiatives related to water, waste, and carbon from scoping through delivery, building project plans, aligning stakeholders, tracking milestones, and surfacing risks early.
  • Support data center sustainability throughout the project lifecycle by defining, monitoring, and improving construction and operational efficiency metrics (embodied carbon, waste diversion, PUE, WUE), partnering with internal teams and external partners to close performance gaps.
  • Design and embed processes by creating SOPs and checklists that build sustainability requirements into manufacturing, construction, commissioning, and site operations, and training site teams, contractors, and partners to apply them.
  • Support green building certification strategies (e.g. LEED, Green Globes) across new builds, coordinating documentation, consultants, and design inputs.
  • Build dashboards and workflows giving teams timely visibility into operational performance, using AI-enabled tools to reduce manual effort.
  • Manage energy data by tracking renewable energy and energy performance with Energy, Finance, and Operations teams to surface portfolio risks and opportunities.
  • Support the broader team by flexing into emerging priorities, ad-hoc data requests, and new initiatives as the business evolves.

Team and stakeholders

Part of Crusoe’s sustainability team (within Public Affairs and Sustainability), the role works with cross-functional teams across Energy, Finance, and Operations, and with external partners, contractors, suppliers, and design teams.

Key details

This is a full-time, on-site role based in Denver, CO, within the Public Affairs and Sustainability department. Compensation includes Restricted Stock Units and benefits in addition to base salary and bonus.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering, environmental science, sustainability, data analytics, or a related field (other backgrounds with demonstrated technical depth encouraged).
  • 4-7 years of experience in sustainability operations, construction or energy management, supply chain/supplier management, or environmental consulting, ideally in data center, cloud infrastructure, energy, or technology sectors, including hands-on management of operational programs, performance metrics, or compliance processes.
  • Strong understanding of data center construction and operations, including metrics (PUE, WUE, CUE) and power, cooling, and energy systems, and familiarity with renewable energy instruments and markets.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional initiatives, manage competing priorities, and influence stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to design, document, and roll out scalable processes, SOPs, and controls across stakeholders and sites, and drive adoption.
  • Experience engaging suppliers, contractors, or vendors on requirements, capability, and accountability (contract terms, scorecards, corrective action).
  • Advanced Excel and strong data skills (SQL, Python, or BI tools such as Tableau, Power BI, Looker), building trackers, dashboards, and data quality controls.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, translating complex sustainability data into clear narratives.
  • A self-starter who exercises sound judgment under ambiguity and takes ownership in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
