Position summary

Siemens Healthineers is hiring a Sustainability Officer to lead and support the development and execution of its sustainability strategy in Great Britain and Ireland. The role ensures compliance with regulatory and customer requirements, drives internal initiatives toward net zero, and represents Healthineers in key forums, aligning regional activity with global strategy while delivering measurable environmental and social impact.

This position is critical to connecting Siemens Healthineers’ global sustainability targets with on-the-ground delivery in GB&I, from carbon reduction and ESG disclosure to meeting the NHS Net Zero Supplier Roadmap requirements that shape the company’s commercial standing with its largest regional customers.

Key responsibilities

• Develop the GB&I strategy by maintaining the regional sustainability strategy in alignment with global targets and local stakeholder needs, tracking actions, owners, risks, and KPIs, and leading the GB&I Sustainability Board and Committee.
• Lead carbon and ESG reporting by producing Carbon Reduction Plans (including Scope 3), leading the annual EcoVadis and Evergreen ESG assessments, producing SECR for annual accounts, supporting the TCFD process, and coordinating ESOS energy audits for the Environment Agency.
• Support commercial tenders by aligning with the NHS Net Zero Supplier Roadmap, providing sustainability, net zero, and social value input into customer tenders, and responding to customer net zero and ESG questionnaires.
• Coordinate planning by feeding sustainability input into corporate and regional planning and leading cross-functional carbon reduction initiatives and commercial sustainability propositions.
• Engage and represent by serving as the key customer contact on sustainability, representing Siemens Healthineers GB&I in external forums (AXREM, BIVDA, NHS forums), and advancing supplier engagement, procurement collaboration, logistics optimisation, product lifecycle impact reduction, and circular economy initiatives.
• Participate in governance through internal working groups (such as the social value model) and the Corporate Social Responsibility committee, and communicate GB&I strategy and progress to the global Sustainability team.

Team and stakeholders

The role engages leadership through the GB&I Sustainability Board and Committee and the CSR committee, works with commercial and procurement teams, and liaises with the global Sustainability team as well as external customers, regulators, and industry forums.

Key details

This is a full-time, permanent role covering Great Britain and Ireland, available in two locations. Requirements

• Degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Engineering, or a related field.
• 3 to 5 years’ experience in sustainability or environmental compliance, ideally within the healthcare or technology sector.
• Proven experience producing CRPs and handling ESG frameworks (e.g. EcoVadis, SECR, TCFD, ESOS).
• Deep understanding of carbon accounting (GHG Protocol, Scopes 1 to 3), net zero pathways, and UK/Ireland regulatory requirements.
• Familiarity with NHS sustainability and procurement frameworks.
• Commercial experience in customer-facing sustainability roles.
• Insight into global sustainability standards and disclosure frameworks.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret carbon data and performance indicators.
• Proactive self-starter with excellent stakeholder engagement, influencing, and communication skills.
• Project management and multitasking ability in a matrix organisation, and confidence presenting to customers, regulators, and leadership teams.
