Job Description

Position summary

Savills is seeking a Sustainability Manager, dedicated to the King's Cross Estate and site-based, to support delivery of the client's sustainability strategy across the estate. The role focuses on practical, site-based delivery: monitoring and maintaining environmental compliance, improving operational sustainability performance, and providing clear data analysis to support decision-making, reporting, and the Energy Manager's work on energy and carbon reduction. You will work closely with property management, engineering, occupiers, service partners, and the client team to turn agreed sustainability priorities into measurable action, while acting as an ambassador for King's Cross.

Why this role matters

This role turns the King's Cross Estate's sustainability priorities into measurable, on-the-ground results. By keeping the estate compliant, improving operational performance across energy, water, waste, and biodiversity, and providing clean data to support net zero delivery, you help maintain a welcoming, high-quality environment and advance the estate's commitment to protecting the planet.

Key responsibilities

  • Environmental compliance: Maintain day-to-day environmental compliance records (waste duty of care, EPCs, register updates, TM44 actions, and other statutory requirements) and escalate compliance risks and gaps promptly.
  • Management systems: Manage the site's integrated Environmental and Energy Management System and ISO 14001 and 50001 certifications, including audits, action tracking, and document control, and coordinate internal compliance audits with corrective actions.
  • Sustainability initiatives: Help plan, deliver, and monitor practical initiatives across energy, water, waste, biodiversity, occupier engagement, and responsible operations, working with surveyors, property and building managers, engineering, and service partners to implement them on site.
  • Occupier engagement: Support occupier engagement, including the King's Cross Sustainability Occupier Forum, with action tracking and follow-up.
  • Estate projects: Coordinate selected estate-level projects, such as green roof monitoring, waste improvement programmes, or certification evidence gathering.
  • Data analysis: Collect, check, and analyse sustainability data (electricity, gas, district energy, water, waste, recycling, and travel), and improve data quality, completeness, and timeliness with site teams.
  • Energy Manager support: Support the Energy Manager with energy and carbon analysis, meter data reviews, action tracking, performance reporting, and evidence for net zero delivery.
  • Reporting and governance: Prepare concise reports and presentations for the client and site management team, and maintain sustainability action plans, trackers, meeting notes, and reporting calendars with clear owners and deadlines.

Team and stakeholders

You will be part of the King's Cross Estate Service Team, working closely with property management, engineering, building managers, surveyors, occupiers, service partners, the client team, and the Energy Manager, and sharing lessons across the wider Savills Property Management teams.

Key details

  • Work arrangement: Site-based, dedicated to the King's Cross Estate.
  • Working hours: 09:00 to 17:30, Monday to Friday.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in sustainability, environmental management, ESG, facilities management, or property management.
  • Good understanding of environmental compliance in operational buildings, including environmental management systems and environmental legal registers.
  • Confidence working with sustainability data, particularly energy, carbon, water, and waste.
  • Strong Excel skills (data checks, formulas, summaries, trend analysis) and confidence using Word and PowerPoint.
  • Clear communication with clients, occupiers, site teams, and service partners, and an organised, accurate approach to actions, deadlines, and evidence.
  • Desired: a relevant degree or equivalent in sustainability, environmental management, geography, engineering, the built environment, or a related discipline; working toward or holding IEMA, Energy Institute, or similar membership; experience in real estate, property, or facilities management or complex operational assets; and awareness of ISO 14001, ISO 50001, EPCs and MEES, Heat Network Regulations, waste Duty of Care, and occupier engagement.
