Position summary


The Sustainability Manager will support the deployment and execution of Amcor's sustainability initiatives and objectives, with responsibility for sustainable packaging metrics and reporting, including translating reporting into business insights that improve site performance, support commercial growth in PCR and recycle-ready materials, and respond to customer sustainability requests. The role serves as a central point of contact and subject matter expert for the Business Group, helping advance Amcor's sustainability agenda and goals.

By owning key metrics and reporting, connecting sustainability performance to commercial value, and managing customer sustainability requests, the manager drives progress against Amcor's sustainable packaging and public sustainability goals.


Key responsibilities


  • Metrics and reporting: Align with the Director of Sustainability and BG/BU leadership to define, track, and own key sustainable packaging metrics, manage monthly and quarterly tracking and reporting, translate results into actionable insights, and present findings to leadership.
  • AFNA priorities: Manage and support AFNA sustainable packaging priorities, partnering with Commercial, R&D, and Operations to improve visibility into PCR and recycle-ready packaging sales and support targeted action plans, ensuring alignment with broader company sustainability goals.
  • Program integration: Integrate sustainable packaging data, metrics, and reporting into core business processes and decision-making, collaborating across product development, sales, innovation, operations, engineering, procurement, and communications.
  • Customer requests: Clarify, maintain, and improve standardized processes for customer sustainability requests, including EPR/FPR compliance, LCA/PCFs, material sustainability data, and Amcor's ESG performance.
  • Subject matter expertise: Serve as internal SME for sustainable packaging reporting and customer support, monitoring trends and building organizational awareness through communication and education.
  • Technical progress: Drive the Business Group's progress against sustainable packaging and public goals through accurate, timely reporting and improved processes, using site-level and commercial data to identify opportunities.


Team and stakeholders


The role reports into the Director of Sustainability, works with BG/BU leadership, and collaborates across Commercial, R&D, Operations, product development, innovation, engineering, procurement, and communications, as well as with customers.


Key details


  • Base: Amcor Flexibles North America, Oshkosh Division Head Office, Wisconsin.
  • Compensation: Starting salary expected between $112,800 and $141,000, with a full range of $112,800 to $169,200 depending on experience (geographic differential may apply); eligible for Amcor's Management/Sales Incentive Plan.

Requirements:


  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Environmental Science, or Engineering; master's preferred.
  • Minimum 6 years of experience in engineering or business roles related to improving the sustainability profile of manufactured products, preferably plastics.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills, including Excel and working with large datasets, plus reporting/visualization tools such as Power BI.
  • Comfort leveraging generative AI tools with sound judgment, validation, and confidentiality.
  • Practical knowledge of sustainable packaging, circularity, recycling systems, and relevant frameworks (EPR/FPR, PCR mandates, recyclability requirements, certifications, corporate sustainability reporting).
  • Demonstrated ability to translate sustainability reporting into business action, strong program/project management skills (PMP preferred), and excellent written and verbal communication.
