Impact Fund Denmark is looking for a Sustainability Director/Senior Manager to join our Sustainability and Impact team, offering you a meaningful job, where you contribute to sustainable development in developing economies.
Impact Fund Denmark is a Danish impact investor and Denmarks' Development Finance Institution contributing to green, just and inclusive societies as well as supporting the Sustainable Development Goals. Impact Fund Denmark provides risk capital to companies operating in developing countries across Africa, Asia, Latin America and parts of Europe. Investments are made on commercial terms in the form of equity, loans and guarantees. Impact Fund Denmark has co-invested in over 1,300 companies in more than 100 developing countries and emerging markets. Capital under management will increase from DKK 18 bilion in 2024 to DKK 45 billion in 2030.
The Sustainability Director/Senior Manager will focus on supporting direct and fund investments in Impact Fund Denmark’s Healthcare and Circularity teams and actively participate in transactions.
You will:
- Develop policies, strategies and tools to support Impact Fund Denmark’s goal of being a best-in-class impact investor.
- Measure impact in our overall portfolio.
- Contribute to new investments from early screening throughout the whole investment cycle to ensure impact contribution.
- Manage E&S risks and potential negative impacts.
- Take part in active ownership to ensure implementation of the Environmental Social Action Plan.
- Follow up on Results Framework and participation in project-specific ESG committees.
- Manage impact due diligence (DD) and environmental and social (ES DD) process for investment opportunities, including risk categorisation, carrying out ES DD or managing ES DD consultants and their assessments.
- Negotiate relevant sections of the investment agreement to ensure alignment with Impact Fund Denmark’s Impact and E&S requirements.
- Support the investment teams in identifying Theory of Change and final Results Frameworks.
- Provide support and guidance to portfolio companies in sustainability and impact assets as well as in technical assistance.
- Build and maintain relationships with partners, especially other development finance institutions.
- Represent Impact Fund Denmark on ESG Committees in selected portfolio companies.
- Manage active ownership and ensuring responsible exits in relation to impact.
You will refer to the Head of ESG and will be working with other regional and sector teams, assisting the organisation in making new investments and identifying potential project companies.
The position is based in Østerbro, Copenhagen.
Your experience and qualifications:
- Experience in applying international environmental, climate-related and social standards relevant to debt and equity investments in healthcare and circularity.
- Experience with the operating principles for Impact Management and Impact Due Diligence.
- A masters degree within natural or social sciences, engineering, economy, law or something similar.
- Proven track record of conducting Environmental and Social due diligence fulfilling requirements of international standards.
- Sector experience in healthcare and circularity.
- Capacity to work independently and in being a resource for others in challenging decision-making processes.
