Job Description
Position summary
Amazon Global Real Estate and Facilities (GREF) is seeking a Sustainability Compliance & Reporting Manager to drive project management for ESG regulatory compliance and sustainability reporting projects across GREF's European operations. Serving as the central coordinator for ESG compliance projects, you will manage multiple concurrent workstreams with exceptional quality and precision, and establish repeatable, scalable processes that strengthen GREF EHSI's position as a model for structured ESG compliance coordination. This is a project management-heavy role requiring exceptional written communication and the ability to operate independently across time zones.
Why this role matters
This role turns complex European ESG regulations into structured, auditable delivery for one of the world's largest corporate real estate portfolios. By coordinating compliance projects, building governance frameworks, and producing audit-ready documentation, the manager ensures GREF meets its regulatory obligations while establishing scalable, repeatable ESG compliance processes.
Key responsibilities
- Project management: Lead end-to-end project management for ESG compliance projects across multiple European countries, managing timelines, dependencies, stakeholder coordination, and delivery.
- Documentation: Develop and maintain work-back plans, stakeholder registers, RACIs, process maps, and audit-ready documentation, tracking deliverables in Asana with proactive risk escalation.
- Communications: Produce clear, concise written and verbal communications to senior stakeholders, including leadership updates and external outreach.
- Coordination: Coordinate with internal partner teams including data, legal, facilities management, sustainability, other Amazon business units, and third-party vendors.
- Frameworks: Establish compliance obligation-specific project frameworks for reactive and proactive approaches, ensuring replicability and auditability.
- Regulatory mapping: Partner with subject matter experts to map regulatory requirements to GREF's operations and translate them into implementable project plans, coordinating across US, UK, and EU time zones.
Team and stakeholders
The role coordinates internal partner teams (data, legal, facilities management, sustainability, other Amazon business units), third-party vendors, subject matter experts, and senior stakeholders across US, UK, and EU time zones.
Key details
- Work arrangement: On-site; travel of 10 to 15 percent.
- Scope: ESG regulatory compliance and reporting across GREF's European operations, coordinated from Arlington, Virginia.
Requirements:
- Exceptional communication skills, producing clear, narrative-driven documents for senior/executive audiences and distilling complex information into plain language.
- Strong project management skills across multiple concurrent workstreams, with structured plans, milestones, and stakeholder coordination.
- Strategic thinking, high attention to detail with strong self-review, and demonstrated stakeholder management across diverse audiences and geographies.
- Independent operating style with proactive risk-flagging; fluent in English (required).
- Preferred: 4 to 7 years managing projects in ESG compliance, sustainability operations, or consulting; familiarity with European energy/ESG regulations (ESOS, EPBD, EED); PMP/PRINCE2; corporate real estate or facilities experience; ISO 50001/14001 implementation; and additional European languages (Spanish, Portuguese).
