Position summary

Corning is hiring a Sustainability Compliance & Reporting Lead within its Specialty Materials segment (Advanced Optics), based across several US sites. The role ensures the organisation adheres to sustainable practices and regulatory requirements, blending regulatory expertise, sustainability knowledge and process management to maintain a culture of sustainability and compliance.

Why this role matters

Advanced Optics products face a growing web of product and environmental regulations. This role interprets proposed and existing regulations, advises management on actions, and coordinates cross-functional response, keeping Corning's products and processes compliant and its sustainability commitments on track.

Key responsibilities

• Act as liaison between Commercial, Customers, Legal, Corporate Sustainability, SCoRE, Global Supply Management, plant EHS and third-party vendors.
• Interpret regulations including EU-PPWR, EU-REACH, PFAS, CMRT and EU-CBAM, and provide recommendations to management.
• Coordinate SME meetings to address customer requests, regulatory changes and plant/product surveys.
• Represent the company in dealings with global trade industry associations.
• Contribute to new products and technology from a compliance perspective.

Team and stakeholders

Works across Commercial, Legal, Corporate Sustainability, Global Supply Management, plant EHS teams, customers, third-party vendors and industry associations within the Specialty Materials / Advanced Optics business.

Key details

• Multiple US locations (Fairport/Corning/Canton NY, Keene NH, Glendale AZ).
• Salary $88,484 to $121,666, plus company-paid pension, 401(k) match and comprehensive benefits. No immigration sponsorship.

Requirements

Essential

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, sciences or a related field.
• 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Prior experience in a regulated field with knowledge of product compliance regulations (EU REACH, EU RoHS, US TSCA, PFAS, CalProp65, Conflict Minerals).
• Demonstrated experience overseeing sustainability and environmental compliance using ESG management platforms (Assent, IntegrityNext, GreenSoft or comparable).

Preferred

• Master's degree.
• Background in chemistry, environmental science or regulatory affairs.
• Experience with CRM and ERP data (SAP, PeopleSoft, Salesforce).
• Experience in both US and EU product regulatory environments.
