Position summary

ACT, a leading trader in environmental commodities, is hiring a Sustainability Compliance Expert in Amsterdam to act as the subject-matter expert for key sustainability compliance products across the region. Supporting teams across renewable fuels, gases, and energy products, the role ensures ACT's products and activities meet regulatory and certification requirements such as ISCC, RED II/III, Mass Balance, RFS, and LCFS.

Environmental commodity markets depend on rigorous sustainability certification and regulatory compliance, and a single flawed Proof of Sustainability or GHG calculation can undermine a trade and ACT's licence to operate. Providing expert go/no-go advice and keeping pace with fast-moving frameworks is what protects the integrity of ACT's products and enables informed, risk-based business decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Act as compliance expert by supporting teams across renewable fuels, gases, and energy products on key sustainability compliance products across the region.
• Ensure regulatory compliance by meeting requirements including ISCC, RED II/III, Mass Balance, RFS, LCFS, and related frameworks.
• Monitor regulation by translating new requirements into practical changes to processes, controls, and ways of working.
• Lead certification audits by coordinating regional certification and accreditation audits with strong preparation and execution.
• Assess complex trades by evaluating supply chains, feedstocks, Proof of Sustainability documentation, and GHG calculations to provide go/no-go advice.
• Represent ACT externally by engaging regulators, certification bodies, auditors, and industry forums and helping shape emerging frameworks.

Team and stakeholders

The role works closely with Sales, Trading, Operations, Legal, Risk, and Finance teams internally, and represents ACT externally with regulators, certification bodies, auditors, and industry forums.

Requirements

• A university degree in environmental science, engineering, law, or a related field, with 4 to 6+ years of relevant experience in sustainability or product compliance.
• Strong expertise in renewable fuels, biomethane, gas trading, energy efficiency, or regulated environmental commodities.
• In-depth knowledge of certification and regulatory frameworks such as ISCC EU, RED II/III, Mass Balance, chain of custody, REC, LCFS, RFS, and RPS.
• Experience in a fast-paced, international, multicultural environment, ideally with Sales and Operations teams.
• Strong analytical and strategic thinking, with the ability to turn complex data and regulation into practical solutions.
• Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills without direct authority.
• A clear, confident English communicator; French or Spanish an advantage.
