Position summary

Deloitte’s Social Impact team is seeking a Sustainability Communications Lead for a 12-month fixed-term cover role within its Volunteering, Communications and Behaviour Change pillar. The role plays a crucial part in raising awareness, internally and externally, of Deloitte’s key sustainability activities, such as its Net-Zero 2040 Transition Plan, using effective communications and engagement to empower people to support the firm’s sustainability efforts.

As fixed-term maternity-leave cover, this role provides continuity across an established programme of sustainability communications, keeping momentum and sharing the stories, progress, and practical actions that drive engagement with the sustainability agenda.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver the sustainability communications strategy by leading its activation, ensuring activity supports sustainability objectives and aligns with wider Social Impact and firm priorities, and evolving approaches based on audience needs.
• Own the communications plan day to day, coordinating activity across channels and teams for effective, timely execution and working with stakeholders to drive engagement.
• Create content including intranet articles, newsletter content, slide decks, speaking points, and video, sometimes working with external agencies.
• Manage stakeholders across the sustainability, Internal Comms, People & Purpose, and Brand teams.
• Measure impact by monitoring and evaluating performance against objectives and KPIs and using feedback, engagement data, and insights to optimise activity.
• Bring subject-matter expertise in internal and external comms, the sustainability landscape, and change-management communications to upskill colleagues and drive increased engagement with the sustainability agenda.

The role sits within the Volunteering, Communications and Behaviour Change pillar of the Social Impact Team (Enabling Functions) and collaborates with the sustainability, Internal Comms, People & Purpose, and Brand teams.

Key details

This is a 12-month fixed-term/secondment cover role based in one of Deloitte’s UK offices with hybrid working. Certain colleagues are subject to personal-independence constraints on financial interests and employment relationships, which the recruitment team explains during the process.

Requirements

• Ability to quickly get up to speed, build credibility with stakeholders, and provide continuity across established projects.
• Proven ability to execute communications strategies.
• Track record in creating high-impact, engaging communications deliverables.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presenting clearly to diverse audiences and adapting approach to different audiences.
• Confidence in building and managing an extensive stakeholder network, with influencing skills to garner support for sustainability efforts.
• Strong project management skills, including planning, execution, monitoring, and evaluation, plus prioritisation and re-planning to adapt to unexpected requests.
• Experience in behaviour change is advantageous but not crucial.
