Position summary
The Sustainability Associate will be an integral member of the Blackstone Credit & Insurance (BXCI) Value Creation and Sustainability Team, helping drive sustainability initiatives across BXCI. Interfacing with senior members of BXCI and other areas of the firm, this individual will lead efforts around sustainability data, analysis, presentation, and reporting, and assist in monitoring sustainability risk across portfolios, including transaction due diligence research and broader industry trends. The role reports to BXCI's Global Head of Value Creation and Sustainability in the Office of the CIO.
Why this role matters
This role embeds sustainability data, analysis, and risk monitoring into BXCI's credit investing. By supporting investment teams' sustainability risk evaluation, producing external reporting (including Article 8), and engaging portfolio companies on topics like decarbonization, you help BXCI integrate sustainability across its investment process and meet investor and regulatory expectations.
Key responsibilities
- Research support: Provide sustainability research support to BXCI investment teams integrating sustainability-related risk evaluation into the investment process.
- Reporting: Support marketing and reporting templates and requirements for external sustainability reporting deliverables, including Article 8 reporting, and create and maintain sustainability presentation materials and investor reporting.
- Client solutions: Collaborate with institutional client solutions and the Global Sustainability team to provide sustainability data, reporting, and due diligence responses for investors.
- Engagement: Prepare and conduct engagement with BXCI portfolio companies on material sustainability topics such as decarbonization.
- Vendors and coordination: Liaise with external sustainability vendors, and coordinate with the BXCI Value Creation and Asset Management teams on focus sponsors and borrowers.
Team and stakeholders
You will report to BXCI's Global Head of Value Creation and Sustainability in the Office of the CIO, and work with BXCI investment teams, institutional client solutions, the Global Sustainability team, portfolio companies, and external vendors.
Key details
- Compensation: Expected annual base salary of $120,000 to $150,000, plus benefits and discretionary bonus (and possible equity/incentive compensation).
- Licensing: Certain client-facing activities may require securities licenses.
Requirements:
- 2+ years of work experience in Banking, Research, Consulting, Finance, or Sustainability; credit experience a plus.
- Significant interest in the sustainability space; relevant work experience and/or academic degree a plus.
- Superior verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills, and proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented, with a robust work ethic and the ability to manage projects independently to completion.
