You will manage and deliver social value commitments across Ridge projects in a range of sectors and work with multidisciplinary teams to design practical, innovative initiatives that create lasting benefits for clients and communities, supporting projects linked to Ridge's Newcastle, Manchester, Liverpool, and Leeds offices across the North.
Why this role matters
This role turns Ridge's social value commitments into measurable benefit for clients and communities. By managing programmes, building relationships with community and delivery partners, and reporting on outcomes against Ridge's four strategic outcomes (equitable economy, resilient communities, responsible business, and environmental stewardship), the consultant helps Ridge deliver positive social, economic, and environmental impact and leave a lasting legacy where it works.
Key responsibilities
- Programme management: Manage a portfolio of social value programmes linked to Ridge projects, tracking costs, performance, and risks and raising issues promptly.
- Opportunity identification: Identify opportunities to use Ridge's social value expertise within projects and client work.
- Strategic outcomes: Work with stakeholders to deliver programmes supporting Ridge's four strategic outcomes: equitable economy, resilient communities, responsible business, and environmental stewardship.
- Relationship building: Build positive relationships with clients, community groups, voluntary, community and social enterprise organisations, SMEs, schools, and other local partners.
- Data and reporting: Collect, analyse, and report data so teams and clients can assess progress against agreed targets, and proactively improve performance.
- Collaboration and bids: Collaborate with teams across Ridge to design initiatives suited to each project and community, and support bid teams to develop project-specific community plans.
- Engagement and communications: Organise stakeholder visits, engagement programmes, and events, help coordinate communications, PR, and media activity, and write case studies and thought leadership articles.
Team and stakeholders
The role is part of the social value team, working with multidisciplinary teams across Ridge, and with clients, community groups, VCSE organisations, SMEs, schools, and local delivery partners across the North of England.
Requirements:
- Experience delivering social value activities, ideally in a role such as Social Value Manager, Coordinator, Officer, Section 106 Officer, or similar.
- Experience in sustainability and in a social value or CSR role within government, construction, professional services, training, or skills development.
- Strong project management, analytical, and data interpretation skills.
- Clear written communication and excellent attention to detail.
- Strong networking and relationship management skills, with the confidence to engage and influence a wide range of stakeholders.
