Position summary

Watershed is seeking an experienced sustainability professional to join its Sustainability Advisory team as a trusted advisor to sustainability leaders at some of the world's largest companies. You will independently lead strategic engagements across target setting, decarbonization, environmental impact management, and voluntary and regulatory reporting, developing practical strategies and building the business case for sustainability throughout each customer's journey. The role is intended for candidates at Senior Manager or Engagement Manager level, or above, at a leading consulting firm.

Key responsibilities

• Customer advisory: Advise sustainability leaders at leading companies on advancing their programs, independently leading strategic engagements across target setting, decarbonization, environmental impact management, and voluntary and regulatory reporting, and building the business case for sustainability.
• Sustainability intelligence: Stay ahead of emerging frameworks, regulations, and market developments, translating the latest trends and regulatory changes into clear, actionable guidance for customers and internal teams.
• Product and service development: Explore emerging sustainability needs across topics and industries, prototyping new ways to create value for customers at the intersection of sustainability, advisory, and technology.
• Thought leadership: Shape Watershed's expertise and point of view by contributing to thought leadership, customer-facing materials, and internal enablement.

Team and stakeholders

You will join the Sustainability Advisory team, advising sustainability leaders (including C-suite audiences) at customer organizations, and partnering internally with the Product and Go-to-Market teams.

Key details

• Work arrangement: Where Watershed has offices (hub offices in San Francisco, New York, London, and Mexico City; satellite offices in Denver, Sydney, Paris, and Berlin), employees are expected in office four days per week, unless a role is specifically noted as remote.
• Level: Scope, autonomy, business acumen, and expertise comparable to Senior Manager / Engagement Manager through Jr. Partner level.

Requirements:

• 10+ years of professional experience, including at least 4 years at a consulting firm in client-facing roles and at least 4 years working in sustainability.
• Deep expertise in corporate decarbonization and familiarity with key climate frameworks, including the GHG Protocol, PCAF, SBTi, and ISO standards, and reporting frameworks and regulations such as CSRD, LSRS, CCDAA, ASRS, ISSB, and CDP.
• Ability to think clearly about complex problems and work confidently with data; systematic, detail-oriented, and comfortable in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to present complex analyses and recommendations to C-suite audiences and to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• A track record of driving strategic initiatives in complex organizations, influencing decision-making while managing multiple internal and external stakeholders.
• A strong interest in solving climate change and enthusiasm for defining the future of corporate sustainability at a high-growth company.
• Nice to have: fluency in multiple languages, such as English, Spanish, French, or German.
