Job Description
Position summary
EY is seeking a (Senior) Manager for its growing Grants & Incentives team, with relevant experience in financing sustainability projects. Drawing on a financial and/or technical background, you will provide sound, strategic subsidy advice on complex, technical investment projects and guide clients toward high-quality, well-considered applications. The ideal candidate has an affinity for and background in sustainability projects, with an emphasis on areas such as circularity, biobased chemicals and materials, agrofood, and sustainable raw materials and ingredients, and knows the subsidy landscape and has a relevant network.
Why this role matters
This role helps clients attract public funding for their sustainability challenges, from green steel to biobased products, turning ambitious, capital-intensive sustainability projects into fundable, well-structured applications. By identifying subsidies and building strong business cases, you help accelerate the sustainability and circularity investments EY's clients want to make.
Key responsibilities
- Subsidy strategy: Help clients strategically identify and secure subsidies for sustainability, circularity, biobased chemicals, or agrofood, focusing particularly on capital-intensive (CAPEX) sustainability projects.
- Roadmaps and applications: Prepare sustainability or innovation roadmaps and (European) subsidy and/or project applications, mentoring junior colleagues and collaborating with colleagues worldwide where needed.
- Client relationships: Maintain and build relationships with leading corporates and multinationals, promising scale-ups, and highly regarded knowledge institutions.
- Team growth: Support the growth of the team by actively approaching existing EY clients and prospects and playing an active role in the management team.
Team and stakeholders
You will be part of EY's national Grants & Incentives team, serving industrial clusters from the Randstad (or possibly Eindhoven), mentoring junior colleagues, collaborating with hundreds of Grants & Incentives colleagues globally, and building relationships with corporates, scale-ups, and knowledge institutions.
Key details
- Work arrangement: Flexible working, deciding with your team where and when you work, home, office, client site, or from another European country up to 20 working days a year.
- Compensation: Fixed salary plus a potential bonus (depending on EY's financial performance), an expense allowance (role-dependent), and a €40 net monthly internet allowance.
- Benefits: 34 holiday days (full-time), fully paid birth leave (and 70 percent pay for additional birth leave), a home-working equipment scheme, training and development (including the option of an MBA), a sustainable mobility scheme (lease bikes, shared e-scooters and e-cars, and public transport), and a pension.
- Screening: A pre-employment screening applies (including a Certificate of Conduct or equivalent background check, ID, diploma, and work-experience verification).
- Other: A category B driving licence is required.
Requirements:
- A completed relevant university (WO) degree, preferably in chemistry, engineering, chemical engineering, industrial engineering, environmental sciences, food science, project finance, business & sustainability, or innovation management.
- At least 6 years of relevant work experience with, for example, circular projects, agrofood, biobased chemicals, alternative ingredients and food sources, or biobased products.
- Knowledge of one of the following sectors/topics: the chemical industry, the (animal) food industry, or the process industry.
- Good command of Dutch and English, written and spoken.
- Experience with project-based work and first steps in managing teams (or readiness to do so).
- A plus: experience with consortium projects or projects backed by public funding/subsidies, and with programmes such as the Innovation Fund, LIFE, Horizon Europe, or DEI+.
- A category B driving licence.
