We are seeking to recruit a Senior Environmental Sustainability Manager (f/m/d) that serves as the primary interface between Group Sustainability and the network of Country ESG Coordinators.


In this role, you will drive the consistent implementation of environmental management requirements across the organization and support countries in effectively managing environmental risks, compliance obligations, and mitigation programs.


Acting as the key link between Group Sustainability and the global network of environmental professionals, you will leverage subject matter expertise from across the organization to facilitate knowledge sharing, promote best practices, and drive the continuous improvement of environmental performance worldwide.


You will directly report to the Vice President Sustainability. You will be located in our Headquarters in Heidelberg, Germany.


YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE


  • Provide environmental expertise and strategic guidance to countries and operational sites on compliance, risk management, and environmental performance improvement
  • Drive the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of Group environmental standards, frameworks, and management systems
  • Support countries in managing environmental incidents, compliance risks, audits, and corrective action programs
  • Monitor emerging environmental regulations and industry best practices, translating requirements into practical business guidance
  • Coordinate and facilitate knowledge sharing, capability building, and alignment across Country ESG Heads and environmental professionals worldwide
  • Lead or contribute to cross-functional environmental initiatives and strategic projects at Group level
  • Represent Group Sustainability in internal and external expert forums, industry associations, and stakeholder engagements
  • Track and analyze environmental performance trends to identify improvement opportunities and support corporate decision-making


YOUR PROFILE


  • University degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Sciences, or a related discipline
  • Several years of professional experience in environmental management within a heavy industrial environment
  • Strong Expertise in environmental compliance, risk management, and operational environmental performance
  • Proven leadership in Environmental Management Systems and environmental governance
  • Experience driving complex projects and implementing change in an international environment
  • Strong analytical, stakeholder management, and communication skills; fluent in English
  • Willingness to travel internationally
