Job Description
Position summary
As a Senior Analyst, Advisory, you will support and help lead project delivery across the full breadth of Novata's ESG and sustainability offerings, spanning climate risk, carbon, ESG reporting, and regulatory workstreams. You will play a core role in Novata's carbon accounting and decarbonisation workstreams, supporting both investor and company clients to measure carbon footprints and financed emissions and develop decarbonisation strategies, and will also support ESG data quality workstreams, performance improvement plans, and materiality assessments (IFRS and/or CSRD aligned). Professional fluency in German is required, including in client-facing conversations and written communications.
Why this role matters
This role turns ESG data into decisions that drive measurable value across the private markets. By delivering carbon accounting, climate risk, regulatory, and due-diligence engagements for private equity GPs and their portfolio companies, and by feeding client needs back into Novata's platform, the Senior Analyst helps set a new, tech-enabled standard for ESG advisory in private markets.
Key responsibilities
- Engagement delivery: Support end-to-end delivery on ESG advisory engagements across climate risk, carbon, and regulatory workstreams, including data quality checks, analysis, reporting deliverables, materiality assessments, and climate risk.
- Carbon accounting: Support carbon accounting engagements including Scope 1, 2, and 3 measurement and reporting and financed emissions, and guide clients through the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) process, including target-setting and submission.
- Portfolio analysis: Support portfolio-level ESG analysis and benchmarking using Novata's platform and proprietary datasets, working confidently with large, complex datasets to surface actionable insights.
- Climate risk: Support climate risk assessments, scenario analysis, decarbonisation strategy development, and framework alignment.
- Client enablement: Guide clients through data collection and iterative improvement of their ESG programs, including the use of AI tools, as directed by engagement leads.
- Due diligence: Support ESG due diligence engagements for investor transactions, including regulatory scans, risk identification, and drafting memos.
- Bilingual client contact: Act as a fluent point of contact in both English and German, supporting German-speaking clients and stakeholders directly.
- Product collaboration: Collaborate with Product and Customer Success teams to relay client needs and support platform improvement.
Team and stakeholders
You will report to a Manager within the Advisory team and work closely with a small, high-performing global team, as well as with investor and company clients (including German-speaking stakeholders) and Novata's Product and Customer Success teams.
Key details
- Work arrangement: London-based, hybrid, with two days per week in the office.
- Eligibility: Applicants must be located in and eligible to work in the UK; no visa sponsorship or relocation is available.
- Language: Professional fluency in English and German (spoken and written) is required.
- Compensation: £60,000 to £80,000 per year, plus equity ownership opportunities, health benefits, a non-contributory pension, and PTO/parental/VTO leave.
Requirements:
- Fluent in English and German (spoken and written), confident working directly with German-speaking clients on sustainability topics and standards.
- 3 to 5 years of industry experience in a related field, such as ESG advisory, sustainability, private equity, or an ESG/carbon data and technology provider.
- Demonstrated hands-on carbon accounting experience across Scope 1, 2, and 3 measurement and reporting.
- Experience supporting clients through the SBTi process or similar decarbonisation frameworks (for example PMDR, NZIF).
- Experience working with large, complex datasets and translating them into clear insights, plus experience with or alongside technology platforms, AI solutions, or SaaS/data products.
- Working familiarity with core ESG frameworks and standards a plus (CSRD, EU Taxonomy, SFDR, TCFD, ISSB/IFRS, GHG Protocol, PRI, GRI, SASB).
- Exposure to due diligence (M&A, transaction support, or portfolio risk assessment) and experience with Power BI, Tableau, or similar tools are pluses, not essential.
- Excellent Excel and analytical skills, strong project planning, delivery, and stakeholder management, and hands-on use of AI tools in a professional context.
