Job Description

Position summary


Nestlé is seeking a Safety, Health & Environmental (SH&E) Specialist to promote excellence in Safety, Health, and Environmental Sustainability at the site by providing SH&E guidance, support, and training. The role ensures daily compliance with applicable government laws and regulations and company policies, completes and maintains assessments to identify hazards, and partners with onsite teams to develop and execute action plans to eliminate identified hazards.

By delivering training, investigating incidents, and driving continuous improvement, you help protect workers and the environment while maintaining an audit-ready state of compliance.


Key responsibilities


  • Safety culture: Foster a culture where Safety, Health, and Environmental Sustainability are ingrained as a core value.
  • Training: Coordinate, support, and facilitate SH&E training to ensure compliance and competency.
  • Program leadership: Provide support, guidance, and leadership for site SH&E programs, and participate on the SH&E committee.
  • Incident investigation: Provide guidance and oversight of incident investigations, ensuring follow-up actions are completed and records maintained.
  • Risk assessment: Conduct risk assessments for existing jobs and for new equipment and processes, and analyze SH&E conditions to recommend improvements.
  • Compliance: Maintain an audit-ready state of compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements, implement SOPs for federal, state, and local worker safety and environmental protection, and maintain and report accurate SH&E data and metrics.


Team and stakeholders


You will partner with site functions including HR, Engineering, Industrial Services, Operations, Maintenance, TAG, and Operations Excellence, collaborate with contractors on pre-work safety planning, and support SH&E interactions with suppliers and regulatory authorities alongside the Manager, Facility/Regional SH&E.

Requirements:


  • B.S. degree in safety, health, environmental, or a related discipline.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience in a Safety & Health role (or related field) in a manufacturing environment.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and DOT requirements, with the ability to interpret and communicate applicable regulations.
  • Ability to make well-informed decisions in routine and non-routine situations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work cross-functionally to influence outcomes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, detail- and results-oriented.
  • Proficiency with Windows-based applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Preferred: professional SH&E certifications (for example CSP, CIH, OHST, NEBOSH), and understanding of ISO 14001, OHSAS/ISO 45001, LEAN, and TPM.
