Position summary

IBM's Chief Sustainability Office is seeking a Reporting Analyst to support IBM's sustainability commitments and disclosure requirements, supporting the accounting and reporting of IBM's GHG emissions and renewable energy performance. The successful candidate will work closely with sustainability and technical professionals across IBM to collect and validate data and drive process improvement and automation, contributing to IBM's climate strategy and performance tracking. The role is ideal for an early-career professional with strong quantitative and problem-solving skills.

Why this role matters

This role underpins the accuracy and scalability of IBM's climate reporting. By analysing renewable electricity and GHG emissions data, automating accounting methodologies, and supporting regulatory disclosures and target tracking, the Reporting Analyst helps IBM meet growing disclosure requirements and advance its climate strategy.

Key responsibilities

  • GHG accounting and data: Analyze IBM's global renewable electricity consumption and GHG emissions using established methodologies, supporting reporting and performance tracking across geographies, business units, segments, and emissions sources; maintain and automate accounting methodologies, assumptions, calculations, and data quality controls; and translate reporting requirements into scalable data collection and analytics solutions.
  • Climate reporting and compliance: Leverage AI to identify and monitor existing and emerging regulations, disclosure requirements, and standards, and develop reports, analyses, and management insights for internal decision-making and external reporting.
  • Performance and targets: Maintain processes to measure and report progress against IBM's renewable energy procurement and GHG reduction targets, support Scope 3 GHG accounting (quantification, collection, validation, reporting, tracking), and support client and supplier engagement on climate data.
  • Process integration: Support integration of climate and sustainability data into enterprise processes, systems, and governance for consistent, auditable, scalable data management, and support continuous improvement of Scope 3 accounting through primary data collection and data quality efforts.

Team and stakeholders

The role works with sustainability and technical professionals across IBM, and engages clients and suppliers on climate data collection, validation, and performance management.

Key details

  • Benefits: Medical, dental, vision, and mental health coverage, 401(k) and cash balance pension, employee stock purchase plan, and generous paid time off.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, environmental science, sustainability, data analytics, business analytics, economics, accounting, finance, or a related quantitative, environmental, or business field.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, able to work with large data sets while ensuring data quality; proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple projects to deadlines.
  • Strong written communication, able to summarize technical information for non-technical audiences, and a strong interest in sustainability and climate.
