Position summary

SmartestEnergy is seeking a Renewable Fuels Originator for a brand-new, commercially focused role at the heart of the energy transition, using your networks to identify, develop, and secure high-value offtake opportunities with producers across Europe. You will structure innovative transactions that generate tangible P&L while operating within defined risk parameters, combining market insight, analytical expertise, and strategic thinking to unlock new opportunities, support renewable certificate management, and ensure accurate inventory and position reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Commercial relationships: Develop and maintain strong commercial relationships with producers and customers throughout Europe.
• Market analysis: Research and analyse quantitative and qualitative data related to the European and global biofuels market.
• Trade agreements: Manage the Trade Agreement process from obtaining approvals through to execution.
• Risk and obligations: Ensure all contractual obligations are met while operating within evolving credit, cash flow, foreign exchange, and risk management frameworks.

Team and stakeholders

You will work with producers and customers across Europe and operate within a fast-paced trading environment, coordinating across credit, cash flow, and risk management functions.

Requirements:

• A background in the commodities sector, such as power, gas, or environmental markets, preferably in a commercial or risk management role.
