Job Description

Position summary

Siemens Smart Infrastructure is hiring a Project Manager for its Smart Buildings & Sustainability business to lead the delivery of complex building decarbonisation and energy transformation projects across the UK. The role integrates technologies such as heat pumps, solar PV, EV charging, and Building Management Systems to reduce carbon emissions, improve energy efficiency, and support the UK's journey to net zero.

Why this role matters

Buildings are a major source of UK emissions, and retrofitting them with low-carbon technologies is central to the net-zero transition. Delivering these decarbonisation projects safely, on time, and to high quality is what turns customers' sustainability goals into measurable cuts in carbon and energy use across the built environment.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead project delivery by overseeing the safe, successful delivery of sustainability, energy, and building transformation projects.
  • Manage on-site activities from mobilisation through commissioning and handover, coordinating internal teams, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Integrate technologies by overseeing installation of air and ground source heat pumps, solar PV, EV charging, and Building Management Systems.
  • Manage commercials by controlling project budgets, schedules, resources, risks, and commercial performance.
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental requirements.
  • Engage stakeholders by acting as primary contact for customers, providing progress updates, and supporting deployment of digital building-performance solutions.

Team and stakeholders

The role works with customers, subcontractors, consultants, suppliers, and internal Siemens teams within Smart Infrastructure, acting as the primary customer and stakeholder contact throughout project delivery.

Key details

  • Home-based with travel to customer sites; current projects primarily in Chester and Bristol, suiting candidates in the North West or South West of England.
  • Requires current and permanent UK right to work; no visa sponsorship.
  • Benefits include a performance bonus, pension (employer contributions up to 10%), and 26 days' annual leave plus bank holidays.

Requirements

Essential

  • Proven experience delivering construction, building services, M&E, energy, infrastructure, or sustainability projects.
  • Strong understanding of M&E systems in construction, refurbishment, or retrofit environments.
  • Experience managing subcontractors, programmes, budgets, and site-based delivery.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, and strong health and safety knowledge.
  • SMSTS qualification and a project management qualification (APM, PRINCE2, or PMP).
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel.

Preferred

  • Experience delivering decarbonisation, energy efficiency, or renewable energy projects.
  • Knowledge of heat pumps, solar PV, EV charging, or BMS, and smart building/energy management solutions.
  • Experience in healthcare, education, commercial, industrial, or public-sector environments, and NEC4 certification.
