Position summary

AWS is hiring a Principal-level strategic leader to define and orchestrate the energy and water regulatory and community strategy across the Asia-Pacific region. Operating at the intersection of regulatory policy, energy markets, and community engagement, the role shapes the environment in which AWS deploys critical infrastructure at scale and serves as the external face of AWS energy and water infrastructure in APAC.

Shaping regulatory frameworks before they crystallize, and building transparent engagement around sustainability, clean energy, and water stewardship, is what enables AWS to deploy infrastructure responsibly across APAC.

Key responsibilities

• Own regulatory strategy by leading the APAC energy, water, and sustainability regulatory strategy, monitoring and forecasting policy changes, and proactively shaping frameworks.
• Direct advocacy by setting the strategic direction that informs Public Policy priorities, providing technical analysis, impact assessments, and positions.
• Drive regulatory readiness by preparing internal teams to anticipate and respond to changing regulations and translating regulatory risk into action.
• Build social license by owning a proactive community engagement framework and mitigating sentiment risk through transparent messaging on sustainability, clean energy, and water stewardship.

Team and stakeholders

The role works closely with Public Policy teams and serves as the external face of AWS energy and water infrastructure in APAC, representing AWS at industry conferences, in media, and before regulatory forums, engaging regulators, government agencies, and industry bodies.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in energy, water, utilities, infrastructure, regulatory affairs, or industry strategy.
• Experience working with external stakeholders such as regulators, government agencies, or industry bodies in an Asia-Pacific market.
• Track record of public speaking, conference presentations, or media engagement in energy, water, or sustainability.
• Comfortable representing the organization in external settings such as industry events or public forums.
• Experience with ambiguity, prioritisation, and delivering measurable results in an agile environment.
• Experience communicating and presenting to senior leadership.
