Position summary

TwiningsOvo is hiring a Packaging Sustainability Lead on a two-year fixed-term contract to accelerate and deliver its priority sustainable packaging initiatives. Based in Andover or Poland, the role translates sustainability strategy into technically robust, compliant packaging solutions implemented at pace across key markets, supporting the company's net zero commitments while protecting products and meeting consumer expectations.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical packaging leadership by assessing sustainability solutions across materials, structures, and specifications and acting as the escalation point for complex questions.
• Own the packaging roadmap by developing and driving a prioritised, net-zero and circularity-aligned portfolio of changes through qualification and implementation.
• Turn strategy into delivered change by leading cross-functional alignment across Procurement, Pack Engineering, Regulatory, and Manufacturing via a programme management approach.
• Monitor and interpret legislation by tracking evolving rules such as PPWR and EUDR and leading the technical and specification responses they require.
• Engage stakeholders and report by securing buy-in, maintaining dashboards, and representing packaging in sustainability platforms and committees.
• Develop new materials by partnering with suppliers and supply chain teams to research, test, and qualify sustainable materials, including compostable formats.

Team and stakeholders

The role works cross-functionally with Procurement, Pack Engineering, Regulatory, Manufacturing, and Marketing teams, collaborates with Ovo and ABF sustainability teams, engages external partners and industry experts, and represents packaging in forums such as the TwO Environmental Due Diligence and Twinings Environmental Working groups.

Requirements

• FMCG change management background with the ability to identify and unlock barriers to change and operate in ambiguity.
• Proven track record implementing packaging sustainability projects from testing to qualification and launch.
• Experience with innovative and complex packaging solutions and future material development, including compostability requirements.
• Deep knowledge of packaging sustainability legislation, circular economy principles, and net-zero strategies.
• Strong analytical skills to assess regulatory requirements from a technical packaging perspective.
• Exceptional communication, stakeholder management, and influencing skills to drive alignment and delivery.
• Ability to manage multiple projects under pressure within fixed timelines.
