Position summary

GE Vernova is seeking a Packaging Regulatory Compliance Manager to lead its packaging compliance and regulatory strategy, with an initial focus on the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR). The role serves as the enterprise subject matter expert for packaging regulatory compliance, coordinating cross-functional efforts to ensure all products and packaging meet current and future requirements, and driving packaging standard development and consistency across GE Vernova's businesses.

Key responsibilities

• Global strategy: Deliver global packaging strategy including elimination/minimization of material, reusable transport packaging where logistics support it, recycled-content materials, design for end-of-life recycling, avoidance of difficult-to-recycle constructions, and standardized components across businesses.
• PPWR implementation: Lead enterprise implementation strategy for PPWR, monitor evolving European packaging legislation, and maintain the compliance roadmap (milestones, resources, timelines).
• Technical expertise: Serve as primary technical expert on packaging sustainability regulations, including recyclability, recycled content, minimization, labeling, and documentation.
• Cross-functional coordination: Coordinate teams to identify compliance gaps and implement corrective actions, partner with engineering to embed requirements into design standards, and collaborate with sourcing and suppliers on materials and documentation.
• Governance: Establish governance processes, metrics, dashboards, and executive reporting for PPWR and eventual EPR, and align corporate packaging specifications and guidelines with global regulations.
• Risk and audits: Lead packaging compliance risk assessments and mitigation, and support internal and external audits in partnership with Supplier Quality Engineering.
• Training and engagement: Develop training and education for engineering, sourcing, manufacturing, and commercial teams, engage industry associations and regulators, and advise senior leadership on regulatory risks and investment needs.

Team and stakeholders

The role coordinates cross-functional teams across engineering, sourcing, manufacturing, and commercial organizations, partners with Supplier Quality Engineering and suppliers, and engages senior leadership, industry associations, regulatory agencies, and external consultants.

Key details

• Work arrangement: Remote (US-based); no relocation assistance.
• Compensation: $127,500 to $212,500 for US-based candidates, with a geographic differential of 110%, 120%, or 130% in certain areas, plus discretionary annual bonus.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Supply Chain, Packaging Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience.
• 7+ years in regulatory compliance, packaging engineering, product compliance, sustainability, or a related field.
• Demonstrated experience interpreting and implementing complex international regulations.
• Strong project/program management leading cross-functional initiatives, with excellent communication and executive presentation skills and the ability to influence without direct authority.
• Desired: experience with European environmental regulations (PPWR, EPR, packaging directives); knowledge of packaging design, materials, recyclability standards, and sustainable packaging; manufacturing/energy/industrial experience; familiarity with LCA, circular economy, and sustainability reporting; and PMP certification.
