Position summary

Sibelco, a 150-year-old specialty industrial minerals company, is hiring a Manager Sustainability at its Dessel plant to support its global sustainability Centre of Excellence. The role develops and implements global strategies, programs, and standards, combining regulatory knowledge, compliance expertise, reporting capability, and stakeholder engagement to deliver consistent, practical solutions across Sibelco's worldwide operations.

Industrial minerals operations face a fast-growing set of ESG regulations, from CSRD and CSDDD to EU Taxonomy and PPWR, each carrying compliance risk and disclosure obligations. Translating that regulation into pragmatic processes and assurance-ready reporting is what keeps Sibelco compliant and helps it create long-term value across a global, multi-industry footprint.

Key responsibilities

• Provide regulatory intelligence by tracking and interpreting emerging ESG regulations and translating them into actionable guidance for functions and sustainability teams.
• Drive sustainability compliance by advancing compliance with CSRD, CSDDD, EU Taxonomy, PPWR, and other ESG requirements through policies, controls, and training.
• Support ESG disclosure by contributing to high-quality, compliant sustainability reporting and challenging data quality to improve processes and systems.
• Pursue funding by identifying and supporting applications for grants and subsidies and monitoring related obligations.
• Engage the value chain by working with customers and suppliers to respond to ESG requirements consistently.
• Represent Sibelco externally by participating in industry associations, working groups, and stakeholder forums.

Team and stakeholders

The role sits within Sibelco's global sustainability Centre of Excellence and works closely with sustainability teams, business functions, data owners, and external partners including customers, suppliers, industry bodies, and consultants.

Requirements

• A master's degree or equivalent experience in sustainability, environmental sciences, law, or a related discipline.
• At least 5 years of relevant experience in sustainability, ESG, regulatory compliance, or reporting.
• Strong knowledge of European sustainability regulation, with practical experience in one or more of CSRD, CSDDD, EU Taxonomy, or PPWR.
• Ability to analyse complex legal and technical requirements and translate them into pragmatic processes and senior-level messages.
• Experience contributing to ESG disclosures, sustainability reporting, data governance, or assurance-ready processes.
• Strong project, stakeholder, and cross-functional collaboration skills in an international environment.
• Advanced written and spoken English; good digital skills including Microsoft Office, with Power BI and funding/grant experience an advantage.
