Position summary
Johnson & Johnson’s DePuy Synthes business is seeking a Manager, Environment, Health & Safety for its Leeds facility, responsible for site Environmental Health, Safety & Sustainability (EHS&S), including ensuring operations comply with local and corporate EHS&S regulations. The role manages one direct report, develops the EHS&S team’s plans, directs strategic initiatives, and serves as a primary point of contact for internal stakeholders including the Site Leadership Team.
Why this role matters

- Lead the EHS&S team by managing site EHS&S professionals and consultants, setting goals, coaching, developing employees, and supporting succession, appraisal, and salary planning.
- Manage risk by monitoring and evaluating EH&S risks of operations, including change management, and continuously improving the program’s efficiency, while advising management on regulatory impacts to business objectives.
- Implement programs by facilitating site EHS&S teams and collaborating with other functions to manage EHS&S aspects of external manufacturers, suppliers, and contractors.
- Deliver training by developing and implementing an EHS&S training strategy addressing key risks and regulatory requirements for appropriate audiences.
- Maintain ISO 14001 certification by keeping site EHS&S management systems aligned with the standard, and communicate business issues and opportunities to the next management level.
Team and stakeholders
The role reports to the Regional Director of EHS&S, manages one direct report and supervises EHS staff at the DePuy Synthes Leeds and Blackpool facilities, works closely with Managers/Team Leaders and the Site Leadership Team, and interacts routinely with EH&S regulatory agencies, laboratory contractors, and industry associations.
