Position summary
EY is growing its UK&I Energy Transition team and seeking a Manager to support power and utilities clients through significant, complex change driven by EU and government mandates and the need to decarbonize, decentralize, and democratize. You will help deliver digitization, modernization, and decarbonization engagements across the power and utilities value chain, with offerings spanning market and technology design, engineering, technology implementation, data and analytics, strategy, policy, and customer engagement. The posting is an open campaign, reviewing applicants on an ongoing basis for various roles and levels across the value chain.

Key responsibilities
- Strategy: Lead and support strategic consulting engagements that drive digital transformation, innovation adoption, and business strategy for utilities, developing clients' vision, objectives, delivery plans, and operating models, and crafting strategic roadmaps and transformation plans.
- Delivery: Stand up transformational programs defining scope, cost, schedule, and resources across people, process, technology, and data, lead workstream design and delivery for energy technology and business solutions, and manage issues, risks, quality, and stakeholder reporting.
- Technical and business operations: Deliver energy system planning projects, architect technical solutions, perform analyses (power flow, cost-benefit, modelling), lead network modelling, and design market programs, with competency across ADMS, DERMS, MMS, and distribution automation.
- Data and analytics: Extract and process grid, metering, pricing, and weather data, execute data migration, model future energy scenarios, and apply machine learning and AI to translate data into insights.
- Service line growth: Develop go-to-market materials, case studies, and customized proposals, evaluate pursuit opportunities, and develop thought leadership and present at industry events.
Team and stakeholders
You will work within EY UK&I's Energy Transition team, collaborating with senior client leaders and stakeholders including regulators, aggregators, customers, developers, and vendors across the power and utilities value chain.
Requirements:
- Experience working within a consulting firm, industry, or government organisation across local, European, and US markets.
- A strong analytical mindset with the ability to synthesize complex information into actionable insights.
- A strong academic record including a third-level degree.
- Experience operating in a fast-paced, multi-vendor environment.
- Passion for the energy sector, with strong interest in utility transformation and emerging technologies.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to influence executive-level decision-making.
- Advantageous: business development and bid leadership; delivery of large-scale business/technology programmes; Waterfall and Agile methodologies; systems analysis and process design; and strong project management and stakeholder engagement.
