Position summary
Target is hiring a Lead Program Manager - Integrated Energy Strategy & Resilience on its Energy & Sustainability Team (within Property Management), based in Minneapolis and remote-eligible. The role defines Target's enterprise approach for how energy technologies work together to support store needs, financial value and operational continuity, leading integrated portfolio strategy across solar, generators, fuel cells, batteries, microgrids, EV charging, utilities and demand-side capabilities.
Why this role matters
As distributed energy resources and resilience become central to retail operations, Target needs a consistent framework for which solutions fit which sites. This role owns the enterprise resilience framework and roadmap for onsite generation, turning site conditions, outage exposure and financial analysis into scalable, decision-ready investment strategy.
Key responsibilities
- Lead integrated portfolio strategy across solar, generators, fuel cells, batteries, microgrids, EV charging and demand-side capabilities, defining which solutions fit by site.
- Own the resilience framework and roadmap for onsite generation, including store segmentation, critical-load and outage-risk considerations, business models and investment criteria.
- Connect roadmaps by partnering with asset, demand-side and controls owners to identify interdependencies, tradeoffs and portfolio priorities.
- Build business cases from site, utility, market, asset and financial inputs, prioritising opportunities and defining pilot success criteria.
- Translate results into roadmaps that scale across the portfolio.
- Partner cross-functionally across Property Management, Utilities, Finance, Technology, Store Operations, Design, Construction, Sustainability, Procurement and external providers.
Team and stakeholders
Sits on Target's Energy & Sustainability Team, working with dedicated asset, program and controls owners and partners across the enterprise and with external solution providers.
Key details
- Remote or Hybrid ("Flex for Your Day"); remote team members may travel to HQ up to four times a year.
- Salary $95,000 to $171,000 plus Target benefits. Application deadline 7 October 2026.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree (MBA or advanced degree preferred).
- Minimum 7 years in energy, utilities, facilities, engineering, resilience, sustainability, finance, technology or a related field.
- Proven ability to design and advance enterprise strategy from ambiguity through roadmap, governance and execution, integrating multiple asset/technology roadmaps.
- Strong understanding of energy infrastructure, distributed energy resources, batteries, microgrids and operational resilience, with working knowledge of demand-side programs and controls.
- Ability to develop integrated business cases, evaluate financial tradeoffs, and use data to drive investment decisions.
- Experience with portfolio segmentation, risk assessment, opportunity prioritisation and pilot design.
- Cross-functional leadership and ability to influence without direct authority, with executive-level communication skills.
