Position summary
Jacobs is hiring a Graduate Carbon Consultant in Manchester, joining its two-year Graduate Development Program. The role supports projects helping clients meet climate change challenges, spanning carbon accounting and management, decarbonisation and offsetting strategies, climate transition planning, whole life carbon assessments, sustainability disclosures and carbon compliance, within Jacobs' PlanBeyond 2025+ sustainability commitment.

Carbon measurement and reduction are central to Jacobs' client delivery and its own sustainability strategy. This early-career role builds deep expertise in carbon management and compliance while applying digital and data-enabled approaches to improve carbon assessments, reporting and decision-making.
Key responsibilities
- Build GHG inventories across Scopes 1 to 3, including data analysis, baseline assessments and support for emissions forecasting and target setting.
- Conduct Whole Life Carbon Assessments for infrastructure projects using tools such as eTool and OneClick LCA.
- Support carbon management plans aligned with standards like PAS 2080, contributing to decarbonisation and transition plans.
- Integrate low-carbon design with multidisciplinary teams, applying circularity, material efficiency and resource optimisation.
- Engage clients by supporting workshops, technical discussions and presentations that translate analysis into actionable insights.
- Support assurance through data checks and verification of carbon accounting and sustainability targets, staying current with carbon policy and standards.
Team and stakeholders
Works alongside senior specialists and multidisciplinary design teams, engaging with clients and contributing to Jacobs' global communities of practice on carbon and sustainability.
