Position summary
Arup is hiring a Graduate Building Services Sustainability Consultant in Cardiff, joining its Sustainability Team within an integrated building design group. The role supports internal and external design teams to enhance the environmental performance of building projects, using the UN Sustainable Development Goals as a framework for action.

Arup's sustainability experts help clients balance commercial performance, comfort and sustainability, and achieve ratings such as LEED, BREEAM and the WELL Building Standard. This graduate role builds the technical foundation to deliver environmental assessments and sustainability strategies across buildings of all types.
Key responsibilities
- Review assessment evidence to support methods such as BREEAM, WELL or LEED.
- Support planning documentation related to sustainability.
- Help shape client strategies for sustainability.
- Track strategy delivery by implementing and reviewing progress on building projects.
Team and stakeholders
Embedded in an integrated building design team that delivers complete building services, collaborating frequently with clients, design teams and specialists across the building sector, and delivering both within Arup and with external organisations.

Requirements
- Bachelor's level (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline: civil, structural, environmental or mechanical engineering, environmental science, or architecture / architectural engineering.
- Core skills in efficiency, multitasking, drawing conclusions, engineering know-how, and reading drawings and technical specifications.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Any energy or carbon modelling experience welcomed but not compulsory.
- Core attributes: a passion for sustainable development, critical thinking, a growth mindset and adaptability.
