Position summary
Google is seeking a Technical Program Manager to establish, implement, and maintain the Environmental & Energy Management System (EEMS) across its Google Data Center (GDC) operations, aligned with regulations, Google standards, and ISO 14001/50001. As a Technical Program Manager, you will lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish, working with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage schedules, and communicate clearly across cross-functional partners, from executives to engineers.

Key responsibilities
- EEMS management: Establish, implement, and maintain a compliant Environmental & Energy Management System aligned with regulations, Google standards, and ISO 14001/50001 across all GDC operating models.
- Compliance and audits: Support external certification audits, ensure operational EEMS compliance, oversee regulatory submissions, and monitor EMEA sustainability regulations to steer evolving program requirements.
- Risk management: Identify and evaluate end-to-end data center environmental and energy risks, design mitigation programs, and investigate incidents to recommend global measures that prevent recurrence.
- Continual improvement: Define and lead continual improvement initiatives using benchmarking, process excellence tools, and KPIs aligned with global GDC strategy.
- Collaboration and training: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, data center operations, and contractors, developing targeted communication and training to drive energy awareness and program success.

You will work within Google's Data Center team and GDC sustainability and compliance program, collaborating with cross-functional teams, data center operations, contractors, and external certification auditors, and communicating with both executives and engineers.
Key details
- Locations: Preferred working location can be shared from Hamina (Finland), Saint-Ghislain (Belgium), Fredericia (Denmark), Dublin (Ireland), Winschoten and Eemshaven (Netherlands), Horndal (Sweden), or London (UK).
- Compensation: Denmark kr.820,000 to kr.840,000 (DKK); Finland €78,000 to €79,500; Ireland €94,000 to €96,000; Netherlands €102,000 to €104,000; Sweden kr820,000 to kr840,000 (SEK); each plus a 15 percent bonus target, equity, and benefits. (Salary for the Belgium and UK locations is not stated.)
Requirements:
Minimum:
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Environmental Management, Geology, Biology, Meteorology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 2 years of experience in program management and implementing environmental or energy management systems in the tech sector in Europe.
- Experience implementing ISO standards within an organization.
Preferred:
- Master's degree in one of the fields above.
- Experience in environmental incident management, remedial investigations, feasibility studies, and risk assessments.
- Experience or knowledge of mission-critical operations with respect to environmental and energy management.
- Solid knowledge of EMEA environmental and energy regulations.
- In-depth understanding of the ISO standards and their requirements (for example the Plan-Do-Check-Act cycle).
