Position summary

EY is seeking a Senior Consultant to join its Sustainable Finance Technology team within EY Financial Services, helping to develop and grow its sustainable finance business. You will work primarily with financial services clients across Banking & Capital Markets, Wealth & Asset Management, and Insurance, helping them leverage data and technology assets in their sustainability initiatives. Bringing a deep understanding of ESG tools, applications, and data vendors, you will help craft new sustainability solutions, budget and manage project resources, and report to senior client directors, with client work both local and global.

Key responsibilities

• Engagement delivery: Support delivery of ESG technology engagements, either standalone or as part of a larger transformation agenda.
• Solution development: Contribute to developing technology services, approaches, and solutions that enable clients to meet sustainability objectives.
• Technical problem-solving: Help develop tactical and strategic solutions to sustainability tech and data issues through data analysis, frameworks, and working with developers to build new tools and models.
• Sales support: Support sales activities, including drafting project proposals, meeting potential clients, inputting into branding and marketing, and managing pipeline.
• Engagement ownership: Take responsibility on ESG technology engagements.
• Cross-team partnership: Partner with other sustainability-focused teams across Consulting and EY service lines (such as Tax, Assurance, and Strategy) to provide aligned technology and data input.
• Vendor relationships: Build relationships with ESG technology vendors to equip the team with the necessary resources and expertise.
• Thought leadership: Provide innovative insights for clients and contribute to thought leadership.
• Operational efficiency: Drive operational efficiency on projects through budgeting, billing, and resourcing.
• Team development: Invest in junior team members' development and success.

Team and stakeholders

You will work within the Sustainable Finance Technology team in EY's Technology Risk practice, alongside EY's other sustainability financial services teams, partnering with Consulting and other EY service lines, engaging client representatives and senior client directors, and building relationships with ESG technology vendors while mentoring junior colleagues.

Requirements:

• Experience across a range of ESG and/or sustainable finance projects, ideally within banking, insurance, pensions, wealth and asset management, and/or private equity.
• Professional experience in data management and/or technology delivery.
• Demonstrable consulting skills, with the ability to understand client needs and develop innovative solutions.
• A strong academic record, including a degree and ideally relevant professional qualifications.
• A minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience.
• ESG data and technology capability: ability to apply ESG data and technology across financial services use cases; experience in at least one ESG pillar and some ESG regulations; understanding of financed emissions; experience in ESG data and technology change programmes; and knowledge of ESG data vendors, data models, and market data trends.
• And/or: carbon and/or nature markets experience (including voluntary and compliance markets, Article 6, and MRV); ability to translate business and sustainability requirements into data, technology, and AI-enabled designs; and business analysis skills including requirements gathering, process mapping, and operating model design.
• Broader technology delivery: experience in solution architecture, data management and strategy, and/or large-scale transformation delivery; understanding of agile and traditional SDLC methods and tools such as JIRA or DevOps; and understanding of modern technology such as process automation (ServiceNow, Pega) or cloud (Azure, AWS).
• Strong consulting and leadership skills: presenting complex information, managing project workstreams, problem-solving, facilitation and communication, stakeholder management, and mentoring.
