Job Description
Position summary
EY is seeking an ESG Services (ESGS) Manager within Supply Chain Services to manage the procurement-support components of EY South Africa’s Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (BBBEE) program. The role coordinates procurement, supplier development, performance reporting, verification evidence, and stakeholder engagement to advance approved BBBEE objectives, serving as the primary ESGS coordination point for procurement-related BBBEE activities.
Why this role matters
BBBEE is central to doing business responsibly in South Africa. This role embeds BBBEE considerations into sourcing and supplier management, supports the transformation of EY’s supplier base, and ensures procurement readiness and evidence for annual BBBEE verification, while supporting (not owning) the broader enterprise scorecard managed across functions.
Key responsibilities
- Manage program and governance by running the BBBEE procurement-support plan, milestones, risks, and escalations, coordinating procurement inputs, and maintaining controls, documentation, and cross-functional governance.
- Drive preferential procurement and supplier transformation by embedding BBBEE considerations across sourcing and supplier management, analysing spend, supplier status, and opportunities with qualifying suppliers, and developing targeted actions with stakeholders to close gaps.
- Support enterprise and supplier development for qualifying South African businesses, connecting suitable suppliers with development and commercial opportunities and tracking participation, outcomes, and evidence.
- Lead measurement, verification, and reporting by coordinating procurement readiness and evidence for annual BBBEE verification, validating spend and supplier data, and reporting performance with recommendations to leadership.
- Engage stakeholders by building relationships across business and functional teams, translating BBBEE requirements into practical guidance, facilitating governance reviews, and escalating key risks.
Team and stakeholders
Sitting within Supply Chain Services, the role is the primary ESGS coordination point for procurement-related BBBEE activities, working across business and functional teams and with qualifying suppliers, BBBEE verification professionals, and South Africa stakeholders (while Talent, Finance, Legal, and Risk own other scorecard components).
