Position summary
The Walt Disney Company is hiring an Environmental Professional within its Environmental Sustainability Line of Business to reduce the environmental impact of Walt Disney World operations across Disney Vacation Club, Deluxe Resorts, Operating Participants, and Disney Experiences strategy. The role cultivates environmental awareness with Cast, supports area-specific project implementations, and drives efficiencies in recycling, plastics reduction, water stewardship, and energy, in line with Disney's sustainability goals.

A resort of Walt Disney World's scale has a substantial environmental footprint, and lasting change depends on Cast adopting new processes and equipment. Leading the people side of that change, and embedding environmental efficiencies across operations, is what turns Disney's emissions, waste, and water goals into results that hold past implementation.
Key responsibilities
- Advance sustainability initiatives by influencing leaders across all levels to build understanding of Disney's environmental goals.
- Address environmental challenges by participating in site walkthroughs and contributing improvement recommendations.
- Implement change by guiding behavioral and process changes creatively and cost-effectively.
- Collaborate with partners by engaging local partners to drive consistency across Walt Disney World and ensure smooth project turnover to operations.
- Influence complex partners including Operating Participants, Disney Vacation Club, and other DX business units.
- Support strategy by contributing to DX segment strategic planning and the consolidated roll-up of environmental initiatives.
Team and stakeholders
The role sits within Disney's Environmental Sustainability Line of Business and partners with Cast across operations, business units, and support areas, plus Operating Participants, Disney Vacation Club, and other Disney Experiences business units.
Key details
- Based in Lake Buena Vista, FL (Walt Disney World Resort); onsite.
- Involves 20-30 hours per week of field work onstage and backstage, handling waste in varied weather and lifting up to 40 pounds.
- Occasional irregular hours for international time zones (Florida, California, France, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Tokyo).
- Hiring range of $73,800 to $101,400, with potential bonus and/or long-term incentive units.
Requirements
Essential
- Bachelor's degree in sustainability, engineering, communications, business, or a related field.
- In-depth knowledge of business operations with strong problem-solving, leadership, communication, and influencing skills.
- Proven negotiation, communication, and engagement with technical and non-technical colleagues, plus conflict management skills.
- Experience leading and facilitating meetings and developing change adoption plans.
- Ability to resolve problems in a dynamic, sometimes ambiguous environment and perform field work.
Preferred
- Previous experience within WDW/TWDC and understanding of its environmental goals.
- Familiarity with sustainability disclosure and regulatory frameworks.
- Experience developing or executing sustainability strategies such as emissions reductions, zero waste, water stewardship, or biodiversity.
- Sustainability, project management, or Zero Waste certification.
