Position summary


WSP is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced environmental professional to help lead and deliver environmental approvals and planning projects across Australia, with a focus on resource developments and major infrastructure initiatives. You will play a key role in shaping best-practice environmental outcomes and supporting the growth of the Environmental Approvals team.

This role helps deliver the environmental approvals that enable major resource and infrastructure projects to proceed responsibly. By leading assessments, coordinating multidisciplinary teams, and designing monitoring programs, the consultant shapes best-practice environmental outcomes for communities across Australia.


Key responsibilities


  • Assessments and approvals: Lead or support environmental assessments and planning projects, particularly in the resource and infrastructure sectors.
  • Team coordination: Coordinate multidisciplinary teams to deliver approvals that align with project and client goals.
  • Business development: Contribute to proposals and business development in a collaborative way.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with clients, project managers, and technical specialists (ecologists, acousticians, contaminated land scientists, engineers, designers) to develop practical, forward-thinking solutions.
  • Data and monitoring: Use data to design monitoring programs and assess the environmental impacts of major developments.


Team and stakeholders


The role is part of WSP's Environmental Approvals team, working with clients, project managers, and technical specialists across disciplines.


Key details


  • Compensation: $90,000 to $100,000 inclusive of superannuation, based on experience; employee Share Purchase Plan available to permanent employees.


Requirements:


  • A degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Urban Planning, Ecology, or a related field (postgraduate qualifications a bonus).
  • 2 to 6 years of experience in environmental planning and approvals.
  • Experience contributing to or leading environmental impact assessment and approvals projects, especially in the WA resources sector.
  • A solid understanding of Australian environmental legislation and policy frameworks.
  • Familiarity with GIS, data analysis, or digital tools for environmental assessment (helpful but not essential).
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
