Position summary
Costain is looking for an Environmental Advisor to join its Cadent framework in Peterborough. The role supports the contract's environmental functions, provides and supports the development of environmental solutions, and enables the contract and operational teams to implement the Group SHE Management System, building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders while providing an independent, objective view of environmental performance on the contract.

This role embeds strong environmental performance into the delivery of Cadent's gas network capital investment programme. By supporting environmental solutions, assurance, and compliance across the contract and its supply chain, the Advisor helps Costain deliver improved regulatory performance and future-proof the network.
Key responsibilities
- Implementation support: Support and influence the contract operational and supply chain teams and build stakeholder relationships to successfully implement the Group SHE Management System.
- Training: Support and, where required, deliver training to help the contract team implement the Group SHE Management System.
- Environmental requirements: Support the contract operational and supply chain contractors in delivering the contract's environmental requirements, and provide feedback on supply chain contractor performance.
- Objectives and assurance: Support delivery of the annual contract and Group SHE objectives and engage with the Contract Environmental Assurance programme to ensure compliance with company and statutory requirements.
- Investigations: Support investigation of unplanned events and close-out of assurance findings, sharing lessons in line with the Group SHE Management System.
- Data: Support the timely reporting, analysis, and use of environmental data to influence the Contract Leadership Team.
Team and stakeholders
The role works with the contract operational and supply chain teams, supply chain contractors, the Contract Leadership Team, and wider stakeholders on the Cadent framework.

- Work arrangement: Hybrid, based at Peterborough (PE1 5TP); permanent; driving required.
Requirements:
- Essential: environmental-related experience.
- Desirable: relevant environmental experience in a relevant industry; an environmental degree or equivalent; AIEMA or equivalent; environment and sustainability modules within a course; PIEMA or equivalent.
