Position summary

Rolls-Royce is seeking an Energy Manager, based in Oberursel near Frankfurt am Main, to manage the strategy and delivery of energy management requirements for Rolls-Royce Germany, including regulatory compliance, achievement of group energy efficiency and decarbonisation targets, and energy procurement and contracts. This includes maintaining the strategy and delivering continuous improvement plans related to ISO 50001 and publicly declared and internal energy efficiency and decarbonisation commitments, with advisory support and oversight for manufacturing operations in Italy and France. The role primarily covers the RRD sites in Oberursel (Component Manufacturing) and Dahlewitz (Assembly, Test and Engineering) and reports to the Vice President of Energy and Sustainability Services.

Key responsibilities

• Strategy and management systems: Lead the strategic development and delivery of energy management for two RRD Operations sites, and coordinate, maintain, and develop management systems in line with DIN EN ISO 50001, acting as delegated authority for ISO 50001.
• Targets: Deliver corporate energy efficiency and Scope 1 and 2 carbon emissions targets across RRD sites, supporting other EU sites as required.
• Decarbonisation: Develop decarbonisation strategies as part of the global RR Energy & Sustainability Services team and drive innovation, including feasibility for technological solutions for production (Oberursel) and assembly/testing (Dahlewitz).
• Team leadership: Establish and lead the RRD cross-functional energy team, including Operations leadership, facility management providers, and senior leaders, and lead supply chain partners in delivering energy management.
• Compliance: Identify and communicate obligations from German and European law and licensing conditions, and monitor and review legal and regulatory requirements.
• Projects and audits: Oversee delivery of energy projects and benefits monitoring, plan and evaluate internal and external energy management audits, maintain an energy management risk register, and coordinate corrective and preventive measures.
• Training and documentation: Support training on the energy management system, maintain central documentation including an annual report to site senior management, provide interim leadership of the GP Operations Team during absences, and initiate behaviour-change projects delivering energy savings.

Team and stakeholders

You will be a member of the RRD Group Property leadership team, report to the Vice President of Energy and Sustainability Services, and lead a cross-functional energy team including Operations leadership, facility management service providers, supply chain partners, and senior leaders, while providing cover for other team members.

• Coverage: Primarily Oberursel and Dahlewitz, with advisory support for operations in Italy and France.

Requirements:

• Good knowledge of DIN EN ISO 50001 and relevant German and European energy laws and regulations.
• Degree qualified and an experienced Energy Manager with experience managing delivery within industrial/manufacturing environments.
• Knowledge of all aspects of energy management and regulatory compliance.
• Budget management experience and understanding of commercial terms within outsourced contracts.
• Experience leading internal teams and supply chain experts to deliver outcomes.
• Experience working with different cultures (countries/companies), and fluency in English and German.
• Good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with senior management, experience identifying strategic direction, and experience leading complex programs across the lifecycle in more than one context, domain, or sector.
