Position summary
ENGIE is hiring an Energy and Renewables Originator in Leeds to sit at the heart of its renewable energy growth strategy, connecting large businesses with clean energy solutions to meet their net zero goals. The role originates, structures, and closes Corporate Power Purchase Agreements and biomethane solutions for major industrial and commercial customers, positioning ENGIE as the partner of choice in the Corporate PPA market.
Why this role matters
Corporate PPAs are a primary route for large energy users to secure renewable power and cut Scope 2 emissions. Originating and structuring these deals is what accelerates the energy transition for major corporates while growing ENGIE's renewable energy portfolio.
Key responsibilities
- Drive PPA origination by developing and executing ENGIE's Corporate PPA origination strategy and growing the renewable energy sales portfolio.
- Build a pipeline of large corporate opportunities, targeting key sectors and senior decision-makers.
- Advise on decarbonisation by helping customers navigate net zero, ESG, and Scope 2 emissions strategies.
- Lead negotiations from initial engagement through to contract execution on complex, long-term agreements.
- Structure innovative deals that meet customer sustainability objectives while delivering commercial value.
- Represent ENGIE at industry events and collaborate across Trading, Risk, Legal, Finance, and Supply teams.
Team and stakeholders
The role sits in ENGIE's Trading / Portfolio Management function and collaborates across Trading, Risk, Legal, Finance, Supply, and sustainability teams, engaging large industrial and commercial customers and partners.
Key details
- Hybrid role based in the Leeds office, minimum 2 days per week; permanent, full-time.
- Focus on Corporate PPAs and biomethane solutions for major industrial and commercial customers.
Requirements
- Proven experience in renewable energy origination, energy supply sales, or structured energy transactions.
- Strong knowledge of Corporate PPA structures, UK electricity markets, and mechanisms such as REGOs, CfDs, and ROCs.
- Demonstrated ability to negotiate and close complex, long-term commercial agreements.
- Experience engaging large industrial and commercial energy consumers on decarbonisation.
- Strong financial modelling skills and the ability to assess commercial viability.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills with senior stakeholders.
- A degree-level qualification in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience.
