Job Description

Position summary

HP is hiring a Director, Responsible Sourcing to own the strategy, structure and leadership of its responsible sourcing and human rights and environmental due diligence program across a complex global electronics supply chain. Operating as a strategic business partner to senior leadership at a time of rising regulatory, geopolitical and customer complexity, the Director sets direction, builds organisational capability, and represents the function across the enterprise and externally.

Why this role matters

The role owns enterprise accountability for the business risk this function manages, including regulatory compliance, market access and reputational exposure, and serves as the escalation point for HP’s most complex and sensitive risk issues, such as forced labor, human rights and worker safety. It ensures HP’s program can withstand a rapidly shifting regulatory and business environment.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead responsible sourcing strategy as HP’s senior subject matter expert on responsible sourcing, human rights, labor rights, worker well-being, living wage, and human rights and environmental due diligence, advising leadership on emerging risks and regulatory developments.
  • Own the due diligence program including scalable processes for risk identification, assessment, prevention, mitigation, monitoring, remediation, governance, grievance mechanisms and supplier engagement across multi-tier supply chains.
  • Provide technical leadership on supplier risk methodologies, Human Rights Impact Assessments, forced labor prevention, responsible minerals and supply chain transparency, aligned with emerging global regulations.
  • Partner across the enterprise with Procurement, Legal, Compliance, Supply Chain and business units, influencing without direct authority and embedding requirements into existing processes rather than a parallel system.
  • Translate risk into business terms by framing complex human rights, labor and environmental risks as market access, customer trust and reputational impact, and preparing decision-ready updates for leadership.
  • Monitor regulatory readiness and build the governance structures, organisational design and operating rhythm needed to run the function at enterprise scale, representing HP in industry coalitions and with regulators and customers.
  • Build and stabilise the team by hiring, developing and retaining talent and leading through organisational and regulatory change.

Team and stakeholders

The Director leads the responsible sourcing team and partners with Procurement, Legal, Compliance, Supply Chain, HR and business units, serving as the primary translator between technical human rights/environmental risk and business decisions, and representing HP externally with regulators, auditors, customers and industry peers.

Key details

  • Based in Vancouver, Washington or Spring, Texas; full-time, with ~25% travel and relocation supported.
  • Job family: Supply Chain & Operations; additional pay available through bonus and/or equity.

Requirements

Essential

  • A four-year or graduate degree in Sustainability, Supply Chain, Human Rights, International Relations, Public Policy, Business, Law or a related field, or commensurate experience.
  • Typically 12 or more years of experience in responsible sourcing, human rights, sustainability, procurement, compliance or a related discipline.
  • 7 or more years in a leadership role with direct accountability for team building, organisational strategy and enterprise-level risk.
  • Demonstrated experience leading through organisational change, including team rebuilding or significant program transformation.
  • A track record of representing complex risk and strategy directly to senior executive audiences.

Preferred

  • A Master’s degree, MBA, JD, MPP or equivalent advanced degree.
  • Experience leading a function through significant regulatory or market change.
  • Experience operating within a broader enterprise sustainability or compliance organisation alongside adjacent functions.
