Position summary
Arcadis is seeking a Consultant / Senior Sustainability Consultant to join its LII Places Sustainability Team, a growing team focused on embedding sustainability within projects and enhancing clients' sustainability governance and performance. The role provides sustainability services across a range of industries, including buildings and infrastructure, spanning strategic support and management systems through to sustainability statements, chapters, and accreditations such as BREEAM, LEED, and WELL, with the opportunity to help develop new service offerings and grow a specialism in the market.

This role delivers the sustainability expertise that helps Arcadis' public and private sector clients advance on their sustainability journeys. By leading accreditation assessments, producing strategies and statements, and supporting technical studies, you help clients improve the sustainability and resilience of their built and natural assets and contribute to Arcadis' thought leadership in the market.
Key responsibilities
- Accreditation assessments: Undertake sustainability assessments for schemes such as BREEAM, LEED, and WELL, leading day-to-day delivery, chairing client and design-team meetings, collecting and reviewing evidence, preparing reports for authorising bodies (for example BRE, USGBC), advising on anticipated scores, and maintaining monthly tracking schedules.
- Gap analysis: Undertake environmental, sustainability, and accreditation gap analysis.
- Technical studies: Provide support on technical studies such as sustainability and resilience EIA chapters and sustainable masterplanning.
- Strategies and policies: Produce sustainability strategies, statements, and policies.
- Delivery support: Provide delivery support to the team and wider Arcadis teams when required.
- Thought leadership: Assist with developing sustainability thought leadership within Arcadis and its external profile with clients.
Team and stakeholders
You will join the LII Places Sustainability Team, working with clients and design teams, authorising bodies such as BRE and USGBC, and the wider Arcadis teams across public and private sector projects.

- Work arrangement: Flexible, agile working with ownership over balancing workload and client commitments (no specific onsite, hybrid, or remote pattern stated).
Requirements:
Essential:
- A good understanding of the technical and commercial matters associated with the services above.
- At least 3 years of experience.
- Training and a licence/qualification in a relevant accreditation scheme (for example BREEAM).
- Experience delivering an accreditation project from start to finish and successfully achieving certification.
- Strong technical and analytical skills, and confident use of Excel and Power BI.
- Experience in thought leadership.
- Well-rounded knowledge of wider sustainability and carbon/climate change issues.
- Proven ability to assist or lead on client presentations and the preparation of bids and proposals.
- Good attention to detail, technical report-writing ability, and the ability to assimilate information quickly.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, and proficiency using AI while maintaining critical thinking.
Desired:
- Professional membership and BREEAM AP.
- Experience using Tracker-Plus and IES TaP.
- Experience managing complex projects and programmes.
