Position summary

Arup is hiring a Consultant for its award-winning Business Investor Advisory (BIA) team in London. The role rapidly assesses infrastructure assets to highlight critical ESG risks and opportunities, understanding ESG, H&S and regulatory elements and articulating their potential impacts to clients across due diligence, lenders advisory and H&S services.

Investors and lenders rely on robust ESG and H&S due diligence to understand risk in infrastructure assets. This role turns technical asset data into clear, client-ready insight that informs investment and lending decisions, while building expertise across Arup's advisory services.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver ESG/E&S/H&S due diligence and advisory work, collaborating with topic specialists to understand key risks.
• Review asset data including technical reports, performance data, management systems and strategies to identify risks and opportunities.
• Project manage report sections by coordinating and producing discrete sections of ESG due diligence reports.
• Support business development through proposals, tracking opportunities and helping develop new service offerings.

Team and stakeholders

Part of Arup's Business Investor Advisory (Sustainable Investment Advisory) team, collaborating closely with technical and commercial specialists and engaging clients across the due diligence, lenders advisory and H&S services.

Key details

• Suited to someone early in their career with some relevant experience, willing to work across ESG, E&S and H&S.

Requirements

Essential

• Understanding of the economic, commercial and regulatory issues and drivers of the ESG sector.
• Ability to produce high-quality, client-ready deliverables (due diligence reports, proposals) that are well written and visually presentable.
• A degree in a related discipline.
• Adaptable and open to working across ESG, E&S and H&S topics.

Preferred

• Buy-side, vendor and/or lender ESG/H&S due diligence experience.
• Governance topics in due diligence (ESG strategy and reporting, compliance, business ethics).
• Environmental topics (management and performance, permitting, GHG emissions, climate risk, biodiversity, circularity, contamination).
• Social topics (stakeholder engagement, human rights and supply chains, labour management and DEI).
• Health & Safety topics (occupational/operational H&S, wellbeing, safety culture, legal compliance).
• Knowledge of ISO 14001, ISO 45001, EU Taxonomy, SFDR, Equator Principles and IFC Performance Standards.
