Position summary
As Climate and Operations Manager, you will be an essential part of Burberry's Corporate Responsibility team, working with multiple internal functions and external partners across Burberry's operations to develop and implement actions that support delivery of Burberry's Climate Transition Plan and environmental targets. You will be responsible for meeting Burberry's energy-related disclosure obligations and for managing its renewable electricity procurement strategy, while supporting the wider delivery of the Climate Transition Plan and broader ESG disclosure requirements.

This role drives the operational delivery of Burberry's climate and energy commitments. By managing Scope 1 and 2 science-based targets, renewable energy procurement, energy and environmental data, and regulatory disclosures, the manager turns Burberry's Climate Transition Plan into measurable action across its global estate.
Key responsibilities
- Science-based targets: Manage the delivery and development of Burberry's Scope 1 and 2 science-based targets and renewable energy commitment, including procuring and retiring renewable energy certificates globally.
- Environmental targets: Support wider environmental targets and policies through targeted projects, including roll-out of Burberry's Internal Carbon Price and managing the environmental impacts of business travel.
- Data management: Manage quarterly collection and analysis of global operational energy, waste, and water data, supported by an internal network of data providers, and support integration of energy and GHG data with data management platforms.
- Regulatory compliance: Manage compliance with energy-related reporting regulations such as SECR, UK ESOS, and EU EED.
- Physical climate risk: Manage ongoing identification and assessment of site-level physical climate risks across the estate to inform environmental risk management and reporting.
- ESG disclosures: Support preparation of broader ESG disclosures such as CDP, TCFD, and the sustainability section of the Annual Report and Accounts.
- External engagement: Engage with industry working groups, consultancies, and NGOs, and monitor wider industry decarbonisation efforts.
Team and stakeholders
The role reports to the Director of Climate, Nature, and ESG Reporting, works across internal functions and an internal network of data providers, and engages external partners including industry working groups, consultancies, and NGOs.
Requirements:
- Strong knowledge of climate and energy reporting frameworks, legislation, and disclosure requirements (e.g. SECR, ESOS, GHG Protocol).
- Proven experience delivering decarbonisation, renewable energy, or environmental improvement programmes with measurable outcomes.
- Excellent project management and cross-functional collaboration skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders across diverse functions.
- A commercially minded sustainability professional able to balance environmental ambition with operational practicality and business priorities.
- Desired: site-level energy, water, and/or waste auditing; experience with LEED, BREEAM, ISO 50001, and/or ISO 14001; and knowledge of carbon pricing mechanisms and the voluntary carbon market.
