Job Description
Position summary
HSBC is seeking a Climate Analytics – Disclosure Associate to sit at the centre of how the bank explains its financed emissions, covering both methodology and results, in external disclosures. You will coordinate drafting across reporting cycles, bringing together inputs from methodology, data analytics, finance, risk, sustainability, investor relations, legal, communications, and assurance, and support internal governance and controls so that disclosures are evidence-based, traceable, and audit-ready. Success looks like clear, balanced, publication-ready disclosures that reflect evolving industry guidance and regulatory expectations.
Why this role matters
This role ensures HSBC's financed emissions are explained clearly, accurately, and defensibly to external stakeholders. By coordinating cross-functional inputs, maintaining governance and audit trails, and translating emerging standards like PCAF and the IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards into practice, the Associate underpins the credibility of the bank's climate disclosures.
Key responsibilities
- Disclosure drafting: Draft and coordinate external financed emissions disclosures covering methodology narrative and results commentary, preparing materials across reporting cycles with inputs from technical and assurance stakeholders.
- Stakeholder socialisation: Socialise draft disclosures with senior stakeholders and subject matter experts and incorporate feedback with clear traceability.
- Governance materials: Produce governance papers, briefing materials, responses to review questions, and supporting audit trails and evidence packs.
- Standards monitoring: Monitor emerging expectations for financed emissions disclosures, including PCAF and IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards, and translate them into disclosure implications.
- Cross-functional coordination: Coordinate activity across stakeholders, systems, and processes to deliver timely, controlled external reporting.
- Programme management: Support active management of the Financed Emissions Climate Analytics programme and maintain effective delivery plans.
- Governance ownership: Own global governance for financed-emissions-related issues, actions, L1 controls, and risks, including logged EUCs and model use cases.
Team and stakeholders
The role brings together inputs from methodology, data analytics, finance, risk, sustainability, investor relations, legal, communications, and assurance, and engages senior stakeholders and subject matter experts, supporting first-line (1LOD) controls and second-line (2LOD) oversight.
Key details
- Base: UK-based role.
- Benefits: Private healthcare for all UK-based employees, enhanced maternity and adoption pay, and a contributory pension with generous employer contribution.
Requirements:
- Knowledge of or strong interest in financed and facilitated emissions reporting, including PCAF-aligned approaches and Scope 1, 2, and 3 boundaries.
- Strong writing capability translating complex methodologies, calculations, and limitations into clear external disclosure language.
- Stakeholder management across methodology, data analytics, finance, risk, legal, investor relations, and assurance to resolve wording and materiality judgements.
- Strong attention to detail, ensuring disclosures are accurate, consistent, and supported by evidence and governance.
- Ability to support 1LOD controls and 2LOD oversight through documentation, version control, and evidence management.
- Operational use of core programme tooling such as Helios, GMIS, and EIM.
- Substantial experience in finance, risk, sustainability, reporting, strategy, or a related discipline, with critical thinking to improve disclosure clarity and robustness.
