Position summary


Jacobs is hiring a Carbon Management Consultant, ideally based in its Dallas, TX office, to support climate change, greenhouse gas and carbon management projects globally. The role acts as a senior technical consultant and strategist, providing expertise through project management, technical consulting, regulatory subject-matter expertise and senior QA/QC review on climate-related projects.

Clients look to Jacobs to manage and reduce their carbon footprint and respond to physical and transitional climate risks. This role defines and leads client technical strategy, translating complex technical information for clients and regulators while helping grow Jacobs' environmental consulting business.


Key responsibilities


  • Lead carbon projects by providing technical leadership as project manager, technical consultant, regulatory SME or senior QA/QC reviewer on climate change work.
  • Advise clients on managing and reducing carbon footprints and responding to physical and transitional climate risks, defining overall technical strategy.
  • Communicate expertise by presenting complex technical information and interpretations to clients and regulatory stakeholders clearly.
  • Grow the business by working with sales and account management to innovate and differentiate service offerings.
  • Shape solutions by understanding client needs and providing practical, cost-effective carbon and GHG strategies.
  • Scope and estimate technical work by defining scopes and levels of effort in proposals.


Team and stakeholders


Works across Jacobs' environmental consulting business, interacting with staff from entry-level engineers and scientists to senior business-unit leadership, plus clients and regulatory stakeholders, and leading remote practitioner teams.


Key details


  • Hybrid working, split between Jacobs offices/projects and remote locations.
  • Base salary $98,900 to $136,000, with benefits including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), stock purchase discount and unlimited PPTO.


Requirements


Essential


  • 10+ years' experience in carbon management.
  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, a basic/applied science (physics, chemistry, materials, earth sciences) or similar.
  • Experience briefing senior executives in corporate, industrial or local-government sectors on GHG inventories, mitigation strategies and climate physical risks.
  • Knowledge of corporate, municipal and project-based GHG inventories and supporting guidance.
  • Experience in carbon markets (developing offset projects, writing methodologies, taking emissions to market, acquiring offsets).
  • Ability to lead and manage a diverse team of remote practitioners.
  • Experience scoping, pricing and writing winning proposals and delivering climate/sustainability projects.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.


Preferred


  • Master's degree in environmental science, public policy, a basic/applied science or similar.
  • Strong business acumen.
  • Track record delivering climate risk and opportunity analysis per TCFD, and supporting CDP and similar disclosures.
  • Strong knowledge of SBTi science-based target setting, including Scope 3 estimation and supply-chain engagement.
  • Background in environmental life cycle assessments, including embodied carbon of concrete and steel.
  • Experience at the nexus of sustainable transportation, resilience, decarbonisation and social value.
