Position summary


General Motors is hiring a Business Analyst for its Zero Waste, Chemical & Resource Management (SP2) team, a remote role open anywhere in the US. The analyst provides analytical and operational support across GM's global Zero Waste, Resource Management (RM), Chemical Management (CM) and biological control programs, enabling data-driven decisions, budget management and disciplined execution.

GM's environmental, safety and cost-optimisation objectives depend on reliable data and disciplined program execution. By tracking Zero Waste performance, managing budgets and turning complex data into insight, this role helps SP2 set, track and achieve goals across North America and globally.


Key responsibilities


  • Support Zero Waste programs by refreshing goals and roadmaps, maintaining dashboards and scorecards, and tracking site action plans and governance routines.
  • Manage RM and CM budgets by building tracking tools, coordinating POs and change requests, and resolving PO, receipt and invoice issues with Finance, Procurement and suppliers.
  • Support environmental capex by compiling site requests and business cases and tracking approvals, spend and realised benefits.
  • Support MRF biological control through documentation, data collection, routine reporting and optimisation of dosing, equipment and supplier performance.
  • Deliver analytics and insight by analysing waste, recycling, diversion and safety data and building visualisations for SP2 leadership.
  • Benchmark and document industry trends and technologies, and maintain SP2 standards, playbooks and cross-functional working sessions.


Team and stakeholders


Partners with SP2 program leads, plant teams, Infrastructure & Corporate Citizenship (ICC), Procurement, Finance, EH&S and external suppliers across North America and globally. Travel is under 25%.


Key details


  • Salary range $105,600 to $140,700, plus incentive pay.
  • Remote role; not eligible for relocation benefits. GM does not provide immigration sponsorship for this role.


Requirements


Essential


  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, environmental science, sustainability, business, data analytics or a related field.
  • 5+ years in business analysis, data analytics, operations, EH&S, environmental programs or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated data analysis and reporting (Excel; Power BI or similar a plus).
  • Experience supporting budgets, forecasts or financial tracking, and familiarity with enterprise PO/invoice systems (SAP or equivalent).
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and critical-thinking skills with large datasets and multiple systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, able to summarise complex topics and influence stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines with high accuracy.


Preferred


  • Experience in waste management, resource management, chemical management, environmental engineering or industrial operations.
  • Familiarity with Zero Waste concepts, the waste hierarchy and diversion strategies.
  • Experience with safety data and translating insights into risk-reduction actions.
  • Knowledge of biological treatment or biological control applications.
  • Experience with manufacturing plants, logistics providers or environmental service suppliers.
  • Ability to develop or improve business processes, templates and governance routines.
