Working with Amazon's central Carbon Measurement and Governance team, the role prepares AWS for assurance cycles, ensuring the AWS footprint components are high quality, aligned with measurement standards such as the GHG Protocol, and sufficiently documented to pass third-party assurance, while continually enhancing AWS assurance readiness and internal controls.
Why this role matters
This role ensures the credibility and accuracy of AWS's carbon footprint, which underpins Amazon's sustainability goals and the AWS Sustainability console that customers use to manage their own impact. Key responsibilities
- Assurance engagements: Own end-to-end third-party assurance engagements for AWS, including provider selection, contracts, work orders, purchase orders, and timeline coordination, partnering with Amazon and AWS data owners (including Legal, Finance, and Procurement) to ensure data, boundaries, and documentation meet company-wide and assurance standards.
- Recast processes: Own coordination, timeline management, and decisions for the AWS Sustainability Console recast processes, including trigger event management and high-judgement threshold decisions.
- Continuous improvement: Own the AWS assurance improvement plan, driving continuous improvement in the efficiency and efficacy of the carbon assurance process.
- Product partnership: Partner with product managers, engineers, and scientists to support the launch of new product features that benefit customers and improve their experience.
- Customer inquiries: Resolve complex sustainability-related inquiries from customers and provide recommendations to product engineering teams for long-term fixes.
Team and stakeholders
You will lead the carbon assurance program for AWS Global Sustainability in collaboration with Amazon's central Carbon Measurement and Governance team, and partner with product managers, engineers, scientists, business leaders, and data owners across Legal, Finance, and Procurement, as well as third-party assurance providers and customers.
Key details
- Compensation: Base salary of $139,500 to $188,700 annually (Seattle), plus sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs); final compensation depends on experience, qualifications, and location.

- Benefits: Health insurance (medical, dental, vision, prescription, basic and supplemental life and AD&D), EAP and mental health support, flexible spending accounts, adoption and surrogacy reimbursement, 401(k) matching, paid time off, and parental leave.
Requirements:
Basic qualifications:
- 5+ years of program or project management experience.
- Experience leading cross-functional projects and managing large, complicated programs.
