Position summary
Weber Shandwick, a global communications agency, is hiring an Associate for its integrated Social Impact & Sustainability team in Washington, D.C. The role contributes to communications strategies for a portfolio of nonprofit, foundation, and corporate clients seeking tangible impact, working at the intersection of social change, business, policy, media, and culture.

Key responsibilities
- Coordinate accounts and projects by supporting multiple clients with scheduling, logistics, timelines, notes, and follow-ups while keeping senior leaders informed.
- Support media relations by identifying and building relationships with reporters across national, trade, local, and emerging outlets.
- Develop content by drafting press releases, media pitches, and targeted media lists.
- Research and analyse social impact trends, business opportunities, and policy developments, and compile client and competitor media coverage.
- Provide strategic support by helping create and execute creative communications strategies.
- Support new business by contributing research and drafting proposals, and building trusted client and colleague relationships.
Team and stakeholders
The role sits within Weber Shandwick's integrated Social Impact & Sustainability team, working with nonprofit, foundation, and corporate clients, reporters, and internal colleagues and senior leaders.
Key details
- Based in the Washington, D.C. office; hybrid, minimum three days per week in office.
- Salary of $50,000 to $55,000.
- Part of Omnicom Public Relations.
Requirements
- 1 to 3 years of professional experience in communications, public relations, or public affairs (agency, nonprofit, government, Capitol Hill, campaign, or media).
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- A strong background in and understanding of environmental sustainability, social impact, public affairs, and current events.
- Exceptional attention to detail with strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and deliver quality work on deadline.
- A proactive interest in leveraging AI to drive communications objectives, with a strong work ethic.
