Position summary

Goldman Sachs is seeking an Associate, Enterprise Risk to support the day-to-day responsibilities and strategic priorities of its Climate Risk program in New York. Reporting into the Climate Risk function, this role supports the Head of Climate Risk and the broader team in executing strategic initiatives as the program expands, responding to new regulatory feedback and industry change. It works to embed climate considerations into the firm's risk frameworks and regulatory processes.

Key responsibilities

• Regulatory deliverables: Prepare regulatory submissions across the ongoing supervision process, regulatory examinations, and other regulatory deliverables.
• Regulatory monitoring: Monitor the changing regulatory landscape, providing feedback through internal working groups and external industry forums to help shape the Climate program.
• Risk integration: Drive the implementation of climate considerations into first and second lines of defense processes.
• Risk appetite framework: Contribute to the design of the Risk Appetite Statement framework, including calibrating limits and monitoring utilization reports.
• Model partnership: Partner with the quant team to understand climate risk models and scenario capabilities and inform views of portfolio risks.
• Risk frameworks: Manage internal risk frameworks and processes, including risk identification.
• Committee and disclosure materials: Contribute to Risk Committee and Board Risk Committee materials, regulatory submissions, and external disclosures.
• Stakeholder relationships: Maintain relationships with key stakeholders across the Sustainable Finance Group, Controllers, the Office of Government and Regulatory Affairs, and Legal.

You will support the Head of Climate Risk and work with the broader Climate Risk team, partnering with the quant team on climate models and scenarios. Key details

• Compensation: Annual base salary of $127,000 to $140,000 for this New York-based position.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree (US or foreign equivalent) in Business, Sustainability, Mathematics, or a related analytical field, plus three years in the role offered or a related role.
• Three years of experience orchestrating and leading strategic discussions with senior management and cross-functional stakeholders, communicating complex climate and risk insights and influencing decisions on climate strategy and risk management.
• Three years demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of both traditional financial risk disciplines (credit, market, operational, liquidity) and non-financial risk disciplines (reputational, strategic), including their intersection with climate-related risks, applied to products such as loans, derivatives, and structured finance instruments.
• One year working in the financial services or banking industry with a focus on climate and sustainability initiatives.
• One year developing and implementing quantitative and qualitative methodologies for assessing and managing climate-related risks, covering both transition and physical risk exposures across diverse portfolios.
• One year evaluating evolving US and non-US regulatory mandates and supervisory expectations (for example ECB, PRA), conducting gap assessments, and implementing adjustments to ensure adherence to new requirements.
• One year contributing to mandatory and voluntary sustainability reports (for example TCFD) and performing sustainability disclosure benchmarking across the financial services industry.
• One year leveraging analytical tools such as R or Excel to analyze large datasets, integrating credit risk exposures with climate risk indicators and producing data-driven recommendations.
• One year managing multiple concurrent assignments with competing priorities and delivering high-quality work to deadline.
• Knowledge of carbon-intensive sectors (for example energy, power, auto manufacturing) and their decarbonization challenges, applied to evaluating and developing viable decarbonization pathways.
